Prefeitura delivers new UBS in Santa Luzia with investment of R$ 2 million
New Santa Luzia UBS is inaugurated in Ponta Grossa with expanded structure, team of 20 professionals and investment of R$ 2 million

The Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa delivered on Friday (18) the new Basic Health Unit (UBS) Antônio Schwanzee, in the Santa Luzia Core. The new space was built to expand the public health care structure in the region and received investment of approximately R$ 2 million.
The inauguration was attended by prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt, representatives of the Municipal Health Secretariat and community leaders. The new unit was built next to the old UBS, offering a broader and more suitable structure to serve residents.
The space has a team of 20 professionals and provides services such as medical consultations, nursing care, prenatal care, child support, family planning, preventive and laboratory tests, vaccination, application of dressings, follow-up of patients with chronic diseases, distribution of basic care medicines and dental care.
Attendance for thousands of residents
The new UBS will serve approximately 7,300 residents of the neighborhoods of Santa Luzia, Congonhas, Residencial América and Estrela do Norte.
According to prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt, the delivery is part of the investments made by the municipality to strengthen primary care and bring health services closer to the population.
“Our commitment to primary care is constant. Therefore, we have made a record investment in the modernization of the Units and in the hiring of professionals in the most diverse areas of health. It is a continuous work to bring quality health closer and closer to the population," said the mayor.
Residents of the region also celebrated the delivery of the new structure. Maria Eunice Ferreira Oliveira, who has lived in Santa Luzia for 54 years, highlighted the importance of unity for the community.
"This unit means everything to us, to people who live here, because we don't need to go after care. Today it has no comparison with the past, it is ten times better," said the resident.
Tatiana Leite also highlighted the improvements, mainly related to the accessibility and physical space of the unit.
"It was much better for the population, including patients with disabilities, because in the previous unit there was no such accessibility. It was very nice, wider so that people could accommodate themselves better," he commented.
Investments in health
The delivery of UBS Antônio Schwanzee integrates a work package aimed at modernizing the Ponta Grossa municipal health network.
Among the actions are reforms and improvements in more than 50 Health Units, with more than 30 spaces already delivered, in addition to the construction of the UPA Uvaranas and the Panama and Borato Overlays.
Also underway are the construction of new health facilities, such as the Vila Cipa Superposes and Royal Garden, as well as the new UBS in the Los Angeles and São José neighborhoods.
According to the City Hall, in recent years more than 60 doctors and almost 300 new professionals were also hired to expand care in the municipal units.
