PRF seizes large amount of cash on BR-277; driver cites sale of real estate in PG

A joint operation of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the Federal Police (PF) resulted in the seizure of a large amount of cash, without proof of origin, on BR-277, in Balsa Nova, in the Campos Gerais region. The approach took place on the afternoon of Monday (27), around 3 p.m., at kilometer 142 of the highway.

During the investigation, the police boarded a Chevrolet Spin, with license plates from Curitiba, driven by a 43-year-old man. Inspecting the car, the agents found an expressive amount of national money bills, in different amounts.

Driver stated that money came from trading in Ponta Grossa

Asked about the source of the appeals, the driver informed the police that the money would come from the sale of a vehicle and land in Ponta Grossa.

The man also stated that he was on his way to Curitiba, where he would be the destination of the values transported. However, during the inspection, no proof of the origin of the money was presented.

PRF did not disclose the exact amount found in the vehicle, merely informing that it was an expressive volume of banknotes.

Money and vehicle were sent to the Federal Police

Faced with the situation, the agents referred the driver, the cell phones found, the car and all the money seized to the Superintendence of the Federal Police, in Curitiba.

The material was presented to the police authority for the realization of the appropriate procedures and clarifications on the provenance of the resources.

The joint action of the security forces aimed to verify the circumstances of the transport of the amount and identify its origin.

To date, no information has been released about the possible arrest of the driver or about the identification of any crime related to the money found.

It is worth noting that the transportation of money in kind, by itself, does not constitute a crime. The situation will be reviewed by the competent authorities.
