Psychologist from PG warns about overload and harassment in the work environment
NR-1 in Ponta Grossa now includes psychosocial risks at work; specialist explains impacts for companies and workers

Norma Regulamentadora-1 was highlighted during an interview with psychologist and consultant Sibelly Pedroso at BnT News on Monday (28), who explained how companies and condominiums must deal with psychosocial risks related to work. Among the main factors are over-demand, harassment, lack of autonomy and situations that can contribute to anxiety, exhaustion and a drop in productivity. The interview preceded a lecture promoted by the Union of Condominiums and Housing (Secovi) of Ponta Grossa, focusing on the management of psychosocial risks in the professional environment, with a lecture by Sibelly and also by psychologist Leticia Rosa.
According to Sibelly, situations such as task overload, excessive pressure, difficulty in organizing time, moral or sexual harassment and lack of management support are among the factors that need attention.
“Sometimes, the employee wants to take care of everything, for fear of being sent away or not taking care of the work, and ends up taking on a lot of demand,” he explained.
Psychosocial risks enter occupational management
The new wording of Chapter 1.5 of NR-1 came into force on May 26, 2026 and came to expressly include psychosocial risk factors related to work in Occupational Risk Management (OHR), according to the Ministry of Labour and Employment. In practice, companies need to identify, evaluate and adopt preventive measures for situations related to the organization of work that may affect the health of workers.
The standard does not only deal with individual diagnoses or personal issues of employees, but with the conditions and organization of the work environment.
Overload and harassment are among the main factors
During the interview, Sibelly highlighted that overwork is one of the most frequent problems observed in companies. She also cited moral harassment, sexual harassment, low autonomy and lack of support from leaders as situations capable of affecting professional performance.
According to the psychologist, these conditions can contribute to emotional exhaustion, anxiety and other mental health related problems.
The company needs to go beyond the document.
Another point highlighted by the expert is that the adequacy to NR-1 in Ponta Grossa should not be seen only as a documentary obligation.
For Sibelly, it is necessary to make a diagnosis of the environment, to listen to the workers and to identify what risks are present in each company. It is necessary to do this mapping and work with each specific demand,” he said.
This process may involve risk assessment, analysis of work organization and planning of preventive measures.
Mental health also affects productivity
During the interview, the psychologist also linked mental health directly to professional performance.
According to her, emotional difficulties, conflicts between teams, overload and lack of support can reduce income and harm the relationship within the company.
The Ministry of Labour has also placed the prevention of psychosocial risks as a focus of the national campaign on Safety and Health at Work in 2026.
Event on Ponta Grossa
The lecture on NR-1 and psychosocial risk management is promoted by Secovi in partnership with Unihab.
The meeting takes place this Monday at 2 pm in the Boulevard Auditorium, located at Rua 15 de Novembro, no 502, overstore, in the Center of Ponta Grossa. The proposal is to guide mainly condominiums, real estate, managers and companies on changes and on the ways of preventing psychosocial risks in the professional environment.
