Ratinho Jr. bets on Sandro Alex in the second round and highlights growth in the final stretch

The governor of Paraná, Ratinho Junior (PSD), demonstrated confidence in the classification of Sandro Alex (PSD) for the second round of the dispute by the State Government. In an interview given on Sunday (4), the day of the first round of the 2026 Elections, Ratinho Jr. highlighted the growth of the ally during the campaign and stated that a new stage of the election would allow to broaden the debate on proposals for the Paraná.

Ratinho Jr. began the interview by highlighting the importance of participation in the electoral process and classified the vote as an exercise in citizenship and strengthening democracy.

Commenting on the state dispute, the governor said he was satisfied with the performance presented by Sandro Alex in the final straight of the campaign.

“It was a very beautiful campaign that the Sandro Alex did together with our entire team, the leaders, mayors, mayors, councilors and the general population,” he said.

According to Ratinho Jr., the electorate has come to know better the work developed by Sandro Alex over the last few years. The candidate held positions in the state administration and is presented by the current governor as the name chosen to continue the political project of the group.

Ratinho Jr. defends continuity

During the interview, Ratinho Jr. stated that Sandro Alex participated in the planning of actions of the Government of Paraná and the execution of projects during its management.

“He was with me planning the state, taking works out of paper, thinking this Paraná of the future,” he said.

The governor also associated Sandro Alex’s candidacy with the maintenance of policies implemented during his administration, citing areas such as education, housing, job generation and care for the elderly population.

For Ratinho Jr., the growth presented by the candidate in the polls during the final straight demonstrates that part of the electorate has come to know better his name and his trajectory.

“We expect it to be confirmed at the polls,” he said.

“The second round is a new election.”

Ratinho Jr. also assessed that an eventual ranking of Sandro Alex for the second round could change the focus of the state campaign.

“The second round is a new election,” he said.

In the Governor’s assessment, much of the first round was marked by discussions related to national policy, reducing the space for debate on the problems and specific proposals of Paraná.

According to him, national issues and controversies involving the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) ended up concentrating the attention of the electorate during the campaign.

“There was little talk about local issues,” he said.

Ratinho Jr. believes that, in a possible second round, Sandro Alex would have more space to present proposals and defend the continuity of the projects developed by the current government.

Governor speaks in debate on candidate trajectory

The governor also said that a new stage of the election would allow to compare in a more in-depth way the political history of the candidates who advance in the dispute.

Ratinho Jr. argued that the trajectory, the performance in Paraná and the political coherence of the competitors should be analyzed.

“The second round will give us that opportunity. And people will see that the Sandro Alex, going into the second round, is one that has a historical line of conduct of coherence, above all: work and coherence,” he said.

The definition of the candidates who will eventually contest the second round of the government of Paraná depends on the official result of the polls on Sunday. If no competitor reaches more than half of the valid votes, the two most voted return to the ballot box in the second round.
