Retired or pensioner who votes will not need to take Life Proof Test
Government will cross information from Electoral Justice with INSS database
Retirees and pensioners of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) who attend to vote in the October elections will not need to do the Proof of Life verification this year.
According to the Ministry of Social Welfare, the verification will occur automatically from the crossing of the information of the Justiça Eleitoral with the database of the INSS.
The Proof of Life is an annual procedure whose objective is to identify whether the holder of the social security or welfare benefit is still alive to ensure the maintenance of payments.
The Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz, said the measure made life easier for pensioners.
“The Proof of Life can be given through electoral attendance. So if you are going to vote on election day, you will already have the proof of life taken. The INSS receives this data and already compute it as proof of life,” he explained.
According to the portfolio, the procedure currently covers about 40 million active beneficiaries, including pensions, pensions and welfare benefits.
In addition, since 2019, as a way to reduce queues and costs for the Proof of Life process, face-to-face attendance has ceased to be a rule, establishing that the INSS proactively seeks data that confirms the citizen’s living condition.
