ROCAM acts fast and arrests suspect 10 minutes after theft in Ponta Grossa

A suspect was arrested after a robbery in Ponta Grossa on Friday night in Santa Paula, Contour region. The arrest was carried out by military police teams of Paraná (PMPR), through the ROCAM team of the 1st Military Police Battalion (1st BPM), after information was passed on about the characteristics of the author.

According to the military police, the crime happened approximately ten minutes before the approach. The initial occurrence was recorded in Rua Bahia, where the victim reported the theft and passed on information that helped in the location of the suspect.

With the support of the information shared by the Military Police Operations Center (Copom) and the RPA team, which accompanied the victim, the ROCAM police began the search for the region.

During the action, the suspect was located in a commercial establishment, a barbershop located in Jaboticabeira Street, at bairro Santa Paula. During the approach, the police found with him the cell phone taken from the victim and the knife that would have been used during the robbery.

The man received a voice of arrest and was referred to the appropriate procedures. In addition to the suspicion related to the theft in Ponta Grossa, a consultation with security systems revealed that there was an open arrest warrant against him.

The warrant had been issued by the district of São Lourenço do Oeste, in Santa Catarina, by article 33 of the Drug Law, related to the crime of drug trafficking.

At the end of the incident, the Military Police counted the arrest of the suspect, the seizure of a knife and the recovery of a cellular device belonging to the victim.

The rapid action of the police teams allowed the suspect to be located a few minutes after the crime. The recovery of the stolen object and the seizure of the possible instrument used in the action were referred to the legal procedures.

The Military Police reinforces that population information is important to assist in the attendance of occurrences and in the identification of suspects involved in crimes registered in Ponta Grossa and region.
