Rotary mobilizes thousands of volunteers and transforms lives with social projects in Paraná
Rotary in Ponta Grossa strengthens social projects and launches a panettone campaign at R$ 39.99. Find out how to help and participate until November 15.
Rotary at Ponta Grossa is strengthening its volunteering efforts and mobilizing the community to participate in social projects that benefit vulnerable entities and families. In an interview with the journalist Diogo Laba, of BnT Online, the governor of District 4730, Miguel, highlighted the work of the organization in Campos Gerais and presented the details of the Solidarity Christmas campaign, which markets panettones to raise funds for charitable initiatives.
District 4730 brings together 81 Rotary clubs, distributed by municipalities from different regions of the Paraná, including Ponta Grossa, Curitiba, Litoral, Campos Gerais and cities such as Jaguariaíva, Telêmaco Borba, Prudentopolis and Irati.
In Ponta Grossa alone, according to the governor, there are eight Rotary clubs and two Rotaract clubs, a movement that brings together young people from the age of 18.
Panettone campaign raises funds for social projects
One of the main initiatives presented during the interview was the Solidarity Christmas campaign, which uses the sale of panettones to finance assistance and community development projects.
Each unit is sold for R$ 39.99, and the campaign continues until November 15, 2026.
According to Miguel, the clubs sell between 30,000 and 40,000 panettones annually, allocating the resources obtained from the campaign, after the costs, to social initiatives.
Among the actions benefited are the acquisition of wheelchairs, professional training projects, support to hospitals, care for people with disabilities, initiatives related to autism and programs to confront violence against women.
The governor stressed that companies are important partners of the campaign, especially in this period when many organizations prepare Christmas baskets for employees and collaborators.
Those interested in acquiring the panettone can seek out members of Rotary clubs in their cities.
Rotary invests in young people to develop leadership and citizenship
In addition to the charitable campaigns, Miguel highlighted the importance of the participation of children, adolescents and young people in the activities of the organization.
Interact is aimed at adolescents aged 12 to 18, while Rotaract welcomes participants aged 18 and over.
According to the governor, experience in volunteering contributes to the development of communication skills, leadership, organization and teamwork.
“These young people, when they enter Interact, change their perception and their way of acting,” he said.
He also explained that parents do not need to be Rotarians for children to participate in Interact activities.
During the meetings, young people have the opportunity to develop projects, develop solutions to community problems and participate directly in social actions.
Ponta Grossa has one of the oldest clubs of Paraná
During his time at Ponta Grossa, Miguel visited clubs and met projects developed by volunteers from the region.
The city is home to the second oldest Rotary club of the Paraná, as well as members who dedicate decades to the movement.
Founded internationally in 1905, Rotary brings together professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders and volunteers who develop projects related to health, education, economic development, meio ambiente and peace promotion.
Miguel said that participation in the organization also transformed his own life, allowing him to find in volunteering a way to contribute directly to the well-being of other people.
According to him, the goal is not only to offer immediate help, but also to create opportunities for the beneficiaries to gain autonomy and better living conditions.
Examples include courses in woodworking, baking and confectionery, capable of providing new possibilities for generating income.
How to participate in Rotary at Ponta Grossa?
The governor explained that people interested in getting to know Rotary can search the clubs on social media or chat directly with a Rotary member.
The meetings take place at different times, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The groups formed by young people also carry out activities on the weekends.
The organization allows new participants to get to know the meetings and projects before deciding to join a club.
In addition, District 4730 intends to expand its regional presence, with the formation of new clubs in municipalities that do not yet have units.
Governor sends message of encouragement to young people
At the end of the interview with BnT News, Miguel left a message especially aimed at young people who are looking for new opportunities, friendships and a purpose for their lives.
For him, participating in voluntary activities can represent an important change in the personal trajectory, providing bonds of friendship and experiences of solidarity.
“Friendship is a precious asset,” the governor said, encouraging the community to move closer to Rotary projects.
Miguel also noted that Rotary continues to promote different activities to raise resources, such as races, feijoadas, auctions and community events.
The expectation is that the mobilization of the clubs will strengthen the solidarity actions in the Campos Gerais and expand the number of people benefiting from the projects.
