SAMU dos Campos Gerais is the first in Paraná to test emergency call geolocation
SAMU dos Campos Gerais starts testing geolocation of calls to 192. The technology, unprecedented in Paraná, will benefit 28 municipalities in the region.

The Campos Gerais Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) on Monday began testing an unprecedented technology in the Paraná that will identify the location of calls made to the emergency number 192. The novelty places the SAMU Intermunicipal Consortium Campos Gerais (CIMSAMU) as the first service in the state to rely on the functionality.
The tool, authorized by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), allows to obtain location information of calls made by landlines, mobile phones and Internet telephony systems (VoIP). The technology will be used in the 28 municipalities served by the consortium and aims to assist the teams in identifying the origin of the calls and in directing the occurrences.
According to CIMSAMU Director General Emanuelle de Matos Schuck, innovation represents a breakthrough for emergency care in the region.
“All calls received by 192 have their location information forwarded by Anatel-authorized operators and telephone networks. With this technology, we will be able to use this data to identify the origin of the calls and assist in the direction of attendance to occurrences,” he explains.
Technology can improve emergency response
The implementation of geolocation represents a new tool to support the work of the teams responsible for answering emergency calls. With the feature, it will be possible to use information provided by the telephone operators to help identify the origin of the call.
The functionality can contribute especially to situations in which the applicant faces difficulties in informing their location, offering more resources to professionals responsible for the regulation and referral of relief teams.
In this first moment, the system goes through a phase of tests to evaluate its functioning and its integration into the operational routine of the SAMU.
According to the management of SMB Gestão em Saúde, company responsible for the operation of SAMU in different regions of Paraná, the initiative seeks to improve the technological resources available for the population.
“We are starting a phase of testing to evaluate the functioning of the tool and its application in the routine of the service. It is an important technological advance to qualify the resources available in the answering of emergency calls”, highlights the management of the company.
News will be presented in a seminar in Ponta Grossa
The technology will be officially announced on Tuesday (20), during the SAMU 192 seminar in Network, held at the Commercial, Industrial and Business Association of Ponta Grossa (ACIPG).
The meeting will bring together health professionals and representatives of the emergency and emergency network to discuss the functioning of the service, its regional coverage, the regulatory frameworks and the protocols used in attending to occurrences.
In addition to the technical discussions, the program will feature practical activities aimed at training professionals, including pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation, use of laryngeal mask and advanced life support equipment.
The Director General of CIMSAMU, Emanuelle de Matos Schuck, highlights that the event also seeks to strengthen the integration between professionals who work in the emergency and emergency care network.
The seminar takes place from 8:30 am to 5 pm, at the headquarters of ACIPG, located in Avenida Visconde de Taunay, no 1855, in the Ronda neighborhood, in Ponta Grossa.
With the implementation of the new technology, the SAMU of the Campos Gerais advances in the modernization of emergency services, expanding the resources available to the population of the 28 municipalities that make up the consortium.
