San Martin Tunnel Gets New Painting and Final Adjustments in Ponta Grossa

Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa is completing the revitalization works of the San Martin Tunnel, located in the Neves neighborhood. This week, the teams of the Municipal Secretariat of Public Services are working on the painting of the passage and the installation of a system of gutters to improve the flow of water on site.
The services are part of the final stage of the interventions carried out in recent weeks. The work is expected to be completed later this week, depending on the progress of the activities.
Tunnel will be banned at specific times
In order to ensure the safety of the teams and drivers, the passage through the tunnel of the San Martin will have temporary interdictions outside peak hours.
The blocks are scheduled for two periods of the day: from 8:30 am to 11 am and from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, while the services are in progress.
During the interdictions, drivers may use alternative routes through the regions of Vila Dal Col and Jardin Royal.
Revitalization brought improvements in the structure
In addition to the new painting, the revitalization of the tunnel contemplated a series of structural improvements. Among the main services executed is the complete replacement of the pavement, with the removal of the old asphalt and the implementation of a new concrete floor.
The teams also carried out interventions in the drainage system, lighting, galleries and tunnel accesses. The improvements seek to offer better circulation conditions and increase the durability of the structure.
The Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa guides drivers to respect the signage and redouble their attention when traveling through the region during the completion of the works.
