See images of the accident that killed a man on PR-151 in Carambeí

Images recorded in the afternoon of Thursday show the severity of the accident on PR-151, near Carambeí, which left one person dead and mobilized rescue teams in the Campos Gerais region.

The incident was recorded approximately one kilometer from Carambeí, in the direction of Castro–Ponta Grossa, and involved a truck and other vehicles that were traveling on the highway.

The images taken at the scene show one of the cars completely destroyed after the collision. The vehicle belongs to the City of Piraí do Sul and was occupied by an elderly man, who died on the spot.

In the records it is possible to observe the situation of the vehicles after the sequence of impacts, in addition to the action of the emergency teams.

The truck involved in the accident also fell to the side of the PR-151. Part of the heavy vehicle lay on the Piraí do Sul City Hall car, making rescue work difficult.

Firefighters from Ponta Grossa were deployed to provide support in the incident. The Samu aeromedical team was also on site to assist in the care of the victims.

What is known about the accident on PR-151

According to preliminary information obtained at the scene, the truck was following a stretch of highway descent when it presented a problem with the brakes.

According to initial reports, the heavy vehicle hit the rear of another car and lost control. After that, it ended up hitting the car of the City Hall of Piraí do Sul.

Information about a possible brake failure will still have to be officially confirmed during the investigation of the causes of the accident.

With the force of the impact, the official vehicle was severely damaged. The elderly man who was in the car did not resist and died before being picked up by rescue teams.

The firefighters worked to carry out the removal of the victim, who remained stuck to the hardware.

The incident caused a large movement of emergency teams in PR-151. Drivers passing through the stretch between Castro, Carambeí and Ponta Grossa should redouble their attention.

The exact circumstances of the accident will be determined by the responsible authorities.
