The damage from the rains in Castro can be seen in different points of the municipality on Monday (14). Records made in the affected areas show the extent of the problems caused by the large volume of water in recent days, which resulted in flooding, blockages of rural roads, flashes, collapses and damage to urban and inland infrastructure.
Faced with the situation, the City of Castro decreed an Emergency Situation through Decree No. 670/2026. The measure will be valid for 180 days and allows the Municipality to expedite actions, hiring and the use of machines and equipment to serve the population and recover the affected sites.

The images recorded during the mobilization help to show the extent of the damage caused by the rains. The situation is considered more critical mainly in the interior of Castro, where there are roads with traffic difficulties and blocked sections.
In the urban area, floods and water advances were also recorded. According to information passed on by Defesa Civil to the BnT, the rivers Japó, São Cristóvão and Maracanã showed significant elevation, with overflows in some points. The Von Bock neighborhood was among the regions hit by the advance of the Yapo River, while a landslide was recorded in the Primavera neighborhood, with no casualties.
Castro's Day party was postponed
The impacts of bad weather also altered the city’s programming. The 18th Festa do Dia de Castro, which was scheduled for this weekend, was postponed so that municipal teams, structure and resources can be directed to the care of the affected families and the recovery of the affected areas.
The program, which would have national attractions, ballooning and the traditional Trekker Trek, is expected to gain a new date. The expectation of the municipal administration is that the event can be held at the end of October, but the confirmation still depends on the reorganization of the agenda.
City Hall teams, Defesa Civil and security forces are still mobilized. In emergency situations, the population can call the Municipal Guard by 153 or the Fire Department by 193.
