Sergio Moro is elected governor of Paraná in the 2026 elections after achieving a mathematical advantage during the vote count.

Sergio Moro (PL) is mathematically elected governor of the Paraná in the 2026 elections. The definition occurred during the counting of the votes on Sunday (4), when the advantage obtained by the candidate became sufficient to prevent the opponents from reaching it with the votes that still remained to be counted.
With the result, Moro guarantees the command of the Iguazu Palace for the next four years and ends a dispute that had between the main names of the state race Sandro Alex (PSD) and Requião Filho (PDT).
Victory at the polls
The counting of the 2026 Elections officially began at 5 p.m., in Brasilia time. The data is updated by Justiça Eleitoral as the Urn Bulletins are transmitted and processed.
Throughout the campaign, Moro reached the final straight by appearing in the leadership of the electoral polls. A survey of the Paraná Pesquisas published on September 28 pointed to the candidate with 50.1% of the valid votes, indicating the possibility of victory in the first round.
The mathematical confirmation during the counting, however, is determined by the votes actually registered in the ballot boxes and by the number of votes that still remain pending totalization.
From Senator to Government of Paraná
Before the dispute by the State Government, Sergio Moro was a senator for Paraná. He was elected to the Senate in 2022 and decided to run for the Iguaçu Palace in the 2026 elections.
Moro also gained national projection for his performance as a federal judge in Operação Lava Jato and, subsequently, as Minister of Justice and Public Security.
During the state campaign, the candidate focused his speech on issues such as public safety, education, infrastructure, economic development and the fight against corruption.
New Governor
With the victory, Sergio Moro will be responsible for assuming the government of the Paraná in the next term and succeeding the current state management.
