Sergio Moro promises "revitalization" of tourism in Paraná
In an interview with BnT News, candidate for the Governor of Paraná by the Liberal Party (PL) defended investments in infrastructure and promotion of attractions such as Vila Velha and the Guartelá Canyon.

Tourism in Paraná was one of the topics addressed by Sérgio Moro (PL), candidate for the Government of Paraná, during an interview with BnT Online, on Thursday (1st). In response to a question sent by a follower of the portal, Moro stated that he intends to invest in the dissemination and structure of attractions such as the Vila Velha State Park, in Ponta Grossa, and the Guartelá Canyon, in Tibagi.
During the interview, the candidate said he considers tourism an important activity for the generation of employment, income and economic development. According to Moro, his plan is to expand the Paraná’s ability to attract visitors from other regions of Brazil and also from abroad. The statements were presented as proposals if the candidate won the elections.
Vila Velha is highlighted as a priority
Speaking specifically about the Campos Gerais, Moro highlighted the Vila Velha State Park. According to him, the attraction has the potential to receive more visitors and should count on greater disclosure and investments in structure.
“We need to have more publicity, we need to have more structure inside the park, we need to invest,” he said during the interview. The candidate said the proposal would make the attractions more able to expand the tourist flow to the region.
Vila Velha is among the main tourist attractions of Campos Gerais. Official data from the Water and Land Institute show that the park received more than 68,000 visitors in 2025. The unit houses sandstones, furnas, trails and the Golden Lagoon, as well as a visitor service structure.
Guartelá is also quoted by Sergio Moro
Moro also mentioned the Guardela Canyon, in Tibagi, and stated that the attraction could be more explored touristically. The Secretary of State for Tourism includes both the sandstones of Vila Velha and the Guartelã Canyon among the main attractions of the tourist territory of Campos Gerais, which brings together 19 municipalities.
In the evaluation presented by the candidate during the interview, investments in attractions considered strategic could help to spread the flow of visitors to other municipalities.
On investments in the sector in the Campos Gerais region, Moro cited a strategy of “revitalization”: “We need, and it is in our government plan, to revitalize tourism in the state of Paraná,” he stressed.
Proposal is to encourage integrated roadmaps
The idea presented by Moro is to use attractions of greater visibility as a starting point to extend the stay of tourists in the region. He cited as an example a visitor who goes to Vila Velha and could extend the trip to the Guartelá or stay longer in inland municipalities to meet other attractions.
This logic of regional integration already appears in the official tourism organization of the State. The territory of Campos Gerais brings together destinations such as Ponta Grossa, Tibagi, Castro, Carambeí, Palmeira, Jaguariaíva, Sengés and other municipalities, with options linked to nature, adventure, historical heritage and culture.
