Sesc PR starts revitalization of historic Locomotiva nº 250 in Ponta Grossa
86-year-old railway heritage was transported to a specialized workshop and, after conservation works, will return to Sesc Estação Saudade
The Sesc Paraná has begun a new step in the preservation of the Ponta Grossa rail memory. Between Tuesday evening (29) and Wednesday morning (30), the institution carried out a special operation for the transport of the historic Steam Locomotive no 250, which will undergo a process of aesthetic revitalization.
The operation began at 11 pm and was completed around 8 am, with the removal of the locomotive from its exhibition site and the displacement to a specialized workshop, in the municipality itself. In the place, services aimed at the conservation of its original characteristics and the preservation of this important historical and cultural heritage will be carried out. All the handling of the locomotive was done without intercurrencies and in total safety, both for the historical heritage, and for the professionals involved.
After the completion of the works, the Locomotive no 250 will be reinstalled in the Sesc Estação Saudade, a space that preserves elements of the railway history of Ponta Grossa and keeps alive the memory of a fundamental period for the development of the municipality and the Paraná.

Manufactured in 1940 in the workshops of the former Paraná–Santa Catarina Road Network (RVPSC), in Ponta Grossa, the locomotive is an important testimony to the local railway tradition.
Journalistic records of the time highlight that the machine was built by the workers themselves of the railway network and inaugurated in September of that year. In 2026, the Locomotive No. 250 completes 86 years of history.
The preservation of the piece is also directly related to the trajectory of Ponta Grossa, a municipality that has had in the railways one of the main vectors of economic, urban and social growth throughout its history.
With the revitalization, the Sesc PR reinforces its commitment to the valorization of memory, culture and historical heritage of Paraná, contributing to the preservation and transmission of important references of the identity of Ponta Grossa to future generations.
