The SESTUR 2026 in Ponta Grossa will be held between October 6 and 9 with a programming mainly focused on adventure tourism and observation tourism in Campos Gerais. Promoted by the Tourism Course of the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG), the Week of Tourism Studies will have lectures, mini-course, round table, presentation of academic papers and an evening walk in the State Park of Vila Velha.

In an interview with BnT News, the coordinator of this year’s edition, Erick Sovinski, explained that the proposal is to broaden the discussion on two segments that present potential in the region, but that can still be further explored. According to him, SESTUR will not be restricted to students of the Tourism course. Academics from other areas and people from outside the university can also participate.

“Our region has enormous potential for adventure tourism and observation tourism. It has very beautiful, unique natural attractions,” Sovinski said during the interview with BnT.

The UEPG describes the training in Tourism as focused on the planning, organization, promotion and sustainable development of the activity, including acting in parks, attractions, events and other segments of the tourist chain.

Adventure tourism will be discussed at the Campos Gerais

One of the highlights of the program will be the round table on the potential of adventure tourism in the Campos Gerais, scheduled for Wednesday (7).

The discussion should bring together representatives linked to attractions and adventure activities in the region and address, among other aspects, safety in the activity and opportunities for development of the segment.

According to Sovinsky, one of the goals is to confront the perception that adventure tourism is necessarily associated with danger.

The programming previously published by the BnT includes the participation of representatives of the Refuge of Curucacas and the Parque Vila Velha. The participation of the representative of Buraco do Padre still depended on confirmation when the programming was released.

Night sky photography also enters the programming

On Tuesday (6), the photographer Sérgio Mendonça will teach the short course “Photography of the Night Sky: techniques and seasonality”, from 14h to 16h30.

The photographer has works linked to the night sky and the Parque Vila Velha.

Images of Mendonça have already been used by the Government of Paraná in disclosures about night tourism and astrotourism in the State. Government of Paraná. The mini-course costs an additional R$ 10 and is intended for people already enrolled in SESTUR.

Night walk will be held at Parque Vila Velha

Another strong point will be the practical experience in the Vila Velha State Park, scheduled for Friday (9), from 6 pm. The night walk will be followed by astronomer Matheus Frare and will include observation of the sky with a telescope.

The experience dialogues directly with the so-called astrotourism. The Parque Vila Velha already carries out such activities, including night walks geared towards astronomical observation. The Government of the Paraná highlights this segment as one of the tourist possibilities of the park.

The activity is scheduled to end between 21:45 and 22:00 and costs R$ 90, with limited places. The transport offered by the organization for this activity is intended for students of UEPG; external participants can move directly to the park.

During the interview given to the BnT on Wednesday (30), Sovinski reported that registration for the night walk ends on Wednesday (30).

Tamar project and observation tourism

On Thursday (8), the program will have a lecture by photographer Maurício Guartelá on photography, observation and tourism.

The former students of UEPG Camilli Vaz and Yonara Cheres will share experiences related to the Tamar Project in Fernando de Noronha.

The proposal is to bring students and the public closer to different professional possibilities and experiences related to nature tourism and observation.
