Siemaco Ponta Grossa, through the Institute of Workers' Health, promoted a special action dedicated to the prevention and care of women's health. The Dia D of Women's Health Care integrates the Outubro Rosa programming and seeks to raise workers' awareness about the importance of performing preventive examinations, early diagnosis and regular medical follow-up.

The initiative also reinforces the union’s commitment to the health and well-being of workers and their families, offering opportunities for care and guidance on the care needed to maintain the quality of life.

During the action, women attended by the Institute of Worker Health shared personal experiences and highlighted the importance of initiatives that facilitate access to health services.

Worker highlights importance of preventive examinations

One of the participants was Sílvia Aparecida Severiano, who took the opportunity to update the preventive exams. She said she had not performed the procedure for two years and that the Siemaco initiative was fundamental to resume care with her own health.

"It was very important to me because I needed to do the preventive. It had been two years since I had done it, so for me it was a very good action. At the first opportunity, I have already set my schedule and we are here, me and my daughter," he said.

Silvia also took the opportunity to encourage other women not to leave health care in the background, especially in the face of work and family responsibilities.

“I say it’s very important to take the exam, to always be taking care of the health. Even more so if you are a mother, you are a worker. We need to take care of ourselves, because health comes first,” he said.

Breast cancer overcoming history reinforces the importance of prevention

Another striking moment of the action was the testimony of Carla Fabiane Ribeiro Batista, who shared her trajectory of coping with breast cancer and warned about the importance of observing the signs of the body itself.

Carla said she has a family history of the disease, having lost family members, including grandparents, aunt and cousin, due to cancer. In 2016, during the bath, he noticed a small lump in his left breast, but initially did not give importance to the change.

About three months later, when he realized that the nodule had increased, he sought care in a health facility. After evaluation, mammography, ultrasound and biopsy, he was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer.

The treatment involved chemotherapy, surgery, and 30 radiotherapy sessions, as well as consultations and examinations over a period of nearly two years.

“In 2016, I was showering and felt a tiny lump in my left breast. I didn't care at the time. It’s been about three months and when I went to see it again, it had already increased,” he recalled.

Even after the treatment, Carla continues to perform medical monitoring. In early 2026, new nodules were identified, one in each breast, which led to the recommendation of consultations and examinations every six months.

"To this day I do follow-up every six months. I was doing one in a year, but earlier this year other lumps appeared, one in each breast. The doctor told me to do it again every six months,” he explained.

The experience transformed the way Carla views health and the importance of self-care. For her, prevention should be a priority in the lives of all women.

“Women can never neglect their health. Because if you have no health, you have nothing. You can have money, you can have a family, but if you are not healthy, you cannot live with your family, work and live the good things in life.”

Carla also left a message about self-love and the need for women to take time to take care of themselves.

"Women have to take good care of their health and not forget that we are not alone. There are people who depend on us, especially our children. We have to think about the people who depend on us and about ourselves, have self-love, if you like it first so that you can help people."

Siemaco maintains health actions throughout the year

In addition to the mobilization of Outubro Rosa, the Siemaco Workers Health Institute develops awareness and prevention actions throughout the year, contemplating different aspects of the health of workers and their families.

Among the initiatives are campaigns such as Blue August, Orange March and Yellow September, as well as educational activities, lectures and actions carried out in partnership with companies, including mental health guidelines.

The objective is to increase access to information, stimulate preventive habits and strengthen the health monitoring of workers represented by the union.

The Dia D also highlights the importance of creating opportunities for women to take their exams and seek professional guidance, especially in the face of a routine that often involves reconciling work, motherhood and family responsibilities.

Outubro Rosa reinforces the importance of early diagnosis

The Outubro Rosa campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early diagnosis. The mobilization also draws attention to the health care of women in an integral way.

The guidance is that women seek health services for periodic evaluations and follow medical recommendations on the tests indicated for each age group and risk condition.

Stories such as Sílvia and Carla show that access to preventive care and medical follow-up can make a difference in women’s lives.

With the Dia D, Siemaco reaffirms its commitment to the enhancement of health, the prevention of diseases and the quality of life of workers, reinforcing that care should be a priority throughout the year, and not only in the month of October.
