The district of Socavão, in Castro, received an ambulance 0 km to reinforce the transport of patients. The new ambulance in Socavão was delivered on Friday (18) and will be based in the district’s Basic Health Unit (UBS), providing mais conforto and travel security.
The vehicle is a type A ambulance, intended for the transport of patients who are not life-threatening during the journey. The acquisition represents a reinforcement of the district’s population care structure, especially in cases where residents need to be transported to other health services.
During the delivery, the mayor of Castro, Reinaldo Cardoso, stressed the importance of the new vehicle for the community. "The new vehicle will ensure a transport of patients with greater quality, comfort and safety," he said.
The coordinator of the UBS of Socavão, Dayana Pinheiro, also highlighted the benefits of the ambulance for the care provided to the residents. "The new ambulance, certainly, will contribute to the improvement of the health care of Socavão, which is undergoing important advances", he pointed out.
UBS do Socavão passa por reforma de R$ 1 milhão
In addition to the arrival of the new ambulance, the Socavão community should also count on improvements in the structure of the Basic Health Unit.
UBS has been under construction since January 2026, with renovation and expansion services representing an investment of R$ 1 million.
According to the information released by the City of Castro, the works are almost 80% complete. The reformed unit is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2026.
The interventions are part of the improvements planned to expand the structure of care for the population of the district.
Dental equipment facilitates care
Another improvement implemented at UBS do Socavão is the use of sensors for the scanning of dental radiographies.
The equipment allows the procedure to be performed in the health unit itself, reducing the need for patients to travel to the urban area of Castro.
The service is also available in the Basic Health Units of the districts of Abapan and Tronco.
The measure seeks to facilitate residents’ access to dental procedures, especially for those who live in the most remote locations of the central region of the municipality.
Health Department plans new investments
According to the Municipal Secretary of Health of Castro, Matilvani Moreira, the proposal of the municipal administration is to expand the structure of the UBS of Socavão, with new equipment and improvements in the services available to the community.
"We want to transform the UBS of Socavão into a superimposed, with adapted structure, new equipment and vehicles, among other novelties that we are working to implement in the unit soon," said the secretary.
The new ambulance in Socavão integrates the improvements announced for the service to the population of the district.
With the completion of the UBS works and the implementation of the new equipment planned, the expectation of the Municipal Health Secretariat is to expand the care structure and facilitate access to health services for residents.
