Storm leaves areas of Ortigueira without power and residents report damages

Residents and entrepreneurs of Ortigueira, in the Campos Gerais, report difficulties caused by the lack of electricity after the storm that hit the municipality. In some locations, according to reports received by BnT Online on Friday, supply has remained interrupted since the beginning of the week, causing losses in homes, commercial establishments, industries and rural properties.

Among the mentioned regions are parts of Briolândia and Natingui, in addition to the stretch between Fazenda RR and Tamarana. There are also reports of lack of energy in the region between Lageado and Campina dos Pupos.

According to residents, the force of the winds has damaged several points of the electricity network and, in some places, it will be necessary to rebuild the structure in order for the supply to be normalized.

Teams from other cities strengthen attendance

According to information passed on by residents of the region, teams from Curitiba, Londrina and Cascavel began to arrive at Ortigueira to reinforce the work of recovery of the network.

The expectation reported by the residents is that, with the increase in the number of professionals working in the municipality, it is possible to expand care in the affected regions.

Even so, residents say they still face difficulties in obtaining a forecast on the complete restoration of energy.

A businessman reported that he personally sought Copel’s attention, but could not get an estimate for the standardization of the service.

“I don’t want to know who’s to blame. I just want a solution to the problem that is not being solved and they are not even passing the deadline,” he said.

Companies account for losses

The lack of power also worries entrepreneurs who rely directly on electricity to keep machines, equipment and cooling systems running.

One of the traders heard by BnT Online reports that the establishment relies on freezing and preserving products and that the interruptions have been causing financial losses.

According to him, in this month alone there were approximately seven occurrences between rapid power outages and longer interruptions.

The entrepreneur says he has already started to document the oscillations to present to the insurer in case equipment is damaged.

Among the losses already recorded, he reports the loss of a luminous plate valued at more than R$ 10 thousand, in addition to products that needed to be discarded.

Residents also report damage

In addition to businesses, residents report problems in residences and properties linked to tourism.

One person said he has been without power since Monday night and has already lost two stays during the week due to the situation.

Another report points out that, in addition to the interruption of the supply, a hut was broken up during the windstorm.

The situation amplifies the concern among residents and entrepreneurs of Ortigueira, mainly in view of the accumulated losses and the absence, according to reports, of a forecast for the complete normalization of the energy supply.
