Strong rumble heard in different regions of Irati draws attention of residents
Strong rumble in Irati was heard in different parts of the city. The detonation is not believed to be related to the BR-277 construction works.

A loud bang was heard in different regions of Irati, in the South-Central of Paraná, during the morning of Friday (9). The noise caught the attention of residents and raised questions about what might have caused the sound, similar to that of an explosion.
Initially, one of the possibilities raised was that the bang could be related to the duplication works of BR-277, which are underway in the region and include rock detonation operations at certain points of the highway.
However, new information indicates that the detonation was not carried out by Via Araucaria, the concessionaire responsible for the section of BR-277.
The main information found so far is that the noise was caused by a detonation carried out in a quarry in the region.
So far, no details have been released about the exact location of the detonation, nor about the intensity of the operation. There is also no record of injuries or property damage related to the episode.
Detonations on BR-277 usually occur in the afternoon.
The initial association with the works of the BR-277 took place because operations of dismantling of rocks are part of the works of duplication of the highway.
This type of procedure, however, is usually performed at predefined times, usually around 2 pm, with temporary interruption of traffic in both directions.
In previous operations carried out in the stretch of Irati, the highway remained blocked for up to 40 minutes to ensure the safety of drivers and the teams responsible for the works.
Interventions also depend on weather conditions and may undergo time changes or even be postponed.
Works are ongoing between Palmeira and Irati
The doubling of the BR-277 between Palmeira and Irati contemplates approximately 27.5 kilometers of highway.
The project provides for the construction of new runways, viaducts, bridges, drainage systems and other structures necessary for capacity expansion and improvement of safety on the stretch.
The investment announced for this stage of the works is approximately R$ 230 million.
Throughout 2026, teams work on different fronts of earthworks, drainage and deployment of the new structures.
Despite the detonations being part of this type of work, the information available so far indicates that the loud bang heard during the morning had no relation to the works of the concessionaire on BR-277.
New information could clarify more precisely where the detonation occurred and whether there was any other perceived impact in the region.
