The Ponta Grossa Centre is likely to undergo a number of transformations in the coming years, and the population is being invited to participate in the discussion on which changes should be prioritized. The Economic Development Council of Ponta Grossa (CDEPG) has launched a public survey to gather opinions of residents, traders, workers and people who frequent the central region.

The consultation is part of the Viva the Ponta Grossa Center project, developed through the CDEPG Technical Chamber of Mobility and Urbanism. The objective is to use the answers as a subsidy for the construction of proposals for revitalization and urban requalification.

The questionnaire is digital, gathers 12 objective questions and can be answered in less than three minutes.

Safety, sidewalks and mobility are among the themes

The survey addresses different aspects of the daily life of the Center, such as mobility, accessibility, security, housing, commerce, social assistance, leisure, gastronomy and expansion of green areas.

Among the questions presented to the participants are the conditions of the sidewalks and crossings for pedestrians, in addition to the perception of safety during the day and at night.

The survey also seeks to identify the assessment of the community on empty or abandoned properties and land in important areas of the Center, including regions near XV de Novembro Street, Dr. Colares and Vicente Machado.

Housing and recovery of old buildings

Another point presented in the questionnaire is the possibility of stimulating housing in the central region.

The population is consulted about the interest in the recovery of old buildings through the so-called retrofit, a process that allows modernizing existing buildings and adapting them for new uses.

One of the proposals analyzed is to transform old buildings into modern apartments, increasing the number of residents in the Center and contributing to a more permanent occupation of the region.

Gastronomic route in the XV of November

The creation of new coexistence spaces also appears in the query.

One of the questions addresses the possibility of implementing a gastronomic route in Rua XV de Novembro, with restaurants, tables on the sidewalks and more space for pedestrians.

The research also evaluates the interest of residents in cultural activities in the Cathedral Square and in leisure activities on Sundays, including walking, cycling and holding fairs.

The expansion of the woodland, the shade offer and the green areas is also among the themes presented to the participants.

Trade of the Center also enters the discussion

Strengthening physical commerce is another subject covered in the survey.

Participants can point out which factors could stimulate more people to make purchases at the Center’s stores rather than opting for e-commerce.

Among the aspects analyzed are prices, promotions, personalized service and variety of products.

The survey also asks what should be the main priority of public investment for the central region.

People on the street and abandoned animals

Social issues are also part of the survey.

The population can present their perception about reception policies for people in street situations and about measures related to the care of abandoned animals.

In addition, the form asks what is the relationship of each participant with the Center and what means of transport it uses to reach the region.

According to the CDEPG, this information can help identify different user profiles and better understand the needs of those who live, work, buy or circulate around the site.

Population can participate via the Internet

For Carlos Ribas Tavarnaro, president of SECOVI-PR and coordinator of the Technical Chamber of Mobility and Urbanism of CDEPG, the participation of the community will be important to guide the next stages of the project.

“The CDEPG invites residents, traders, workers and all users of the Center to respond to the questionnaire. Participation is free, fast and can be carried out via the internet, through the link or the QR Code available in the disclosure materials. Each contribution represents an opportunity to collaborate with the construction of proposals for a more living, accessible, safe and valued Center, for the benefit of the entire community of Ponta Grossa”, he says.

The expectation is that the responses will help to establish priorities involving infrastructure, real estate occupation, housing, historical heritage, mobility, commerce and public spaces.

In addition to the survey aimed at the population, the CDEPG also elaborated another, aimed at traders, which addresses practical issues of the daily life of entrepreneurs to know what the challenges of this segment in the city center would be, such as the impact of pedestrians, public safety, the unevenness of the sidewalks, parking for vehicles, the training of the sales team, the competition of the online market, among other aspects. This second questionnaire is being distributed to retailers by ACIPG, the Commercial, Industrial and Business Association of Ponta Grossa.

How to respond to the survey

Participation is free and carried out via the internet.
