Suspect in shooting death of 'ride-hailing driver' in Reserva is considered at large

The Civil Police of the Paraná (PCPR) is looking for Lucas Mateus de Almeida, investigated by the death of Ludimar Moraes, 48, on September 4, in Reserva, in the Campos Gerais. The courts decreed the temporary arrest of the suspect, who was not located during the enforcement of the judicial measures and is considered a fugitive.

According to the 56th Regional Reserve Police Station, a search and apprehension warrant was also issued against the investigator. During the diligences at the residence linked to Lucas, the police found a .380 calibre pistol loader.

The caliber, according to the Civil Police, is compatible with the ammunition and cases found at the scene of the murder. The seized material must pass for expertise.

The victim was shot inside the car.

The murder took place around 9:55 a.m. on September 4 in the San Francisco neighborhood of Reserva. According to the investigation, Ludimar was inside a white Chevrolet Prisma when he was surprised by the shooter. About six shots were fired at the victim.

After being hit, Ludimar's car moved backwards and hit a pole. A team from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) was triggered, but the man still died on the spot.

Witnesses heard by police reported that moments before the murder, there was a dispute between the victim and the shooter. After the shootings, the suspect allegedly fled on foot towards a swamp area.

Police report disagreement after traffic accident

Investigations indicate that the murder may have been motivated by a disagreement related to a traffic accident that occurred months earlier. According to PCPR, the accident involved a GM/Vectra vehicle belonging to the investigated. Ludimar allegedly paid, on more than one occasion, for the repair of the car at a facility indicated by the suspect himself.

According to the investigation, Lucas would not have been satisfied with the hue used in the painting of the vehicle. The Civil Police state that, after the disagreement, the investigator would have initiated collections against Ludimar and made repeated death threats.

Investigators say there are witness reports, as well as text messages and audios gathered during the investigation, which will be used to clarify the circumstances of the case.

Suspect not located

After the decree of temporary detention, police teams conducted diligence to locate Lucas Mateus de Almeida, but he was not found. According to PCPR, the investigator left his home shortly after the murder and, until Wednesday, remained with unknown whereabouts.

Searches continue to locate the suspect and also the firearm that was allegedly used in the crime. The Civil Police reinforces that the investigation remains underway and seeks to clarify fully the dynamics and motivation of the murder.
