Ponta Grossa may have a storm on Sunday (4), the day of the first round of the 2026 elections. The arrival of a cold front to the Paraná should cause instability during the weekend. For the municipality, the Simepar forecast indicates 98% probability of rain, accumulated about 10 millimeters and gusts of wind up to 50 km / h on Sunday.

The advancement of the system by the state is expected to begin late Saturday, with storms initially in the Southwest, West, Center-South and Northwest regions. In the early morning and in the morning on Sunday, the instabilities continue towards the central areas, to the North and the East of Paraná.

Rain and wind on voting day

The planned scenario for Ponta Grossa requires attention from those who will travel to the polling places. The high chance of rain indicates a chance of rain on Sunday, but it does not necessarily mean that it will rain throughout the day.

The numbers are also different from the scenario of greater severity predicted for other areas of the Paraná. In the state bulletin, Simepar points to the possibility of intense rain, lightning, hail and winds that can exceed 80 km/h in points hit by storms. This speed is not the specific forecast for Ponta Grossa, where the estimate consulted indicates gusts up to 50 km/h.

Until Sunday afternoon, the trend is to reduce the risk of storms in the state, although it may still rain, especially in the northern and eastern strips.

Monitoring during elections

The possibility of severe weather led the Paraná Regional Electoral Court, Simepar and Defesa Civil to organize a weather contingency plan for the first round. The initiative provides for monitoring of weather conditions at polling places and preparation for risk situations.

For Monday (5), the municipal forecast maintains a 98% probability of rainfall in Ponta Grossa, with an estimated cumulative of 14.4 millimeters and gusts up to 50 km/h. The forecast conditions may be updated as weather systems approach.
