Three detainees remain at large in Castro and five have already been recaptured

The Civil Police of Castro announced that it has initiated a criminal investigation to clarify the circumstances of the escape of the detainees.

Three of the eight detainees who fled Castro’s public prison on Thursday night are still on the run. The leak was recorded around 8:30 p.m. and five have already been recaptured by security teams.

The fugitives are, Edevandro de Jesus Lara (with record of threat and domestic violence); John Jhonatan Fagundes (with record of theft, robbery and drug trafficking) and Mateus Soares (with record of drug trafficking and domestic violence). Initially the escape had been denied, but after physical conference in the cells, about 5 minutes later, a hole was found in the wall of the back of the 402 cell, in the external gallery.

Civilian Police Investigate

The Civil Police of Castro reported that they have instituted a Police Inquiry to ascertain the circumstances of the escape of prisoners.

It clarifies that the management, custody and administration of the prisoners and the respective prison unit are the sole responsibility of the Criminal Police Department of Paraná (DEPPEN-PR).

“At this time, investigative teams are working on collecting information to clarify the dynamics of the leak. At the same time, the Civil Police and the other public security forces of the State act in an integrated way in the search and recapture of the fugitives," points out the delegate Marcondes Ribeiro.

Information and reports that can help in the location of the evaded can be passed on in a totally anonymous way by telephones 197 (Civil Police) 181 (Disc-Denunciation) 190 (Military Police) or directly at the Police Station of Castro.
