Thursday will bring rain in Ponta Grossa and region; Inmet issues warning for storm

This Thursday (10), the weather remains unstable throughout the territory of Paraná, with favorable conditions for the occurrence of storms in all regions of the state. The Simepar also highlights the high accumulated rainfall, with values above 50 millimeters in all regions of the state and that can approach 100 mm between the West, Southwest, Center-South, central areas and the North.

The National Meteorological Institute (Inmet) issued two storm warnings for the Campos Gerais region throughout the day. With a degree of red severity for great danger, Ponta Grossa and some municipalities may record rain greater than 60 mm or greater than 100 mm, winds greater than 100 km/h and hailfall. Other cities in the region are orange for danger. At this degree, rainfall can reach between 30 and 100 millimetres, winds of 60 to 100 km/h and hailfall.

In Ponta Grossa, Thursday started with the minimum temperature of 16°C. With the presence of rain, the temperature does not rise much and can reach 20°C. The accumulated rainfall is 20 millimeters.

In the city of Telêmaco Borba, temperatures are mild between 17°C and 21°C. The forecast so far indicates 28 millimeters of rain throughout the day.

And in the municipality of Porto Amazonas, Simepar highlights 31 millimeters of rain on Thursday. The temperatures are between 16°C and 20°C.

On Friday, the formation of an extratropical cyclone over Rio Grande do Sul and the advance of a cold front in the South of the country contribute to a highly favorable environment for the formation of supercellular storms in Paraná. “In addition to the high potential for severe weather, significant rainfall accumulates are expected,” Simepar said.
