Aunt Irene of the Borel College, as Irene de Oliveira Guimarães was affectionately known, died on Monday (28), at the age of 89, in Ponta Grossa. A resident of the region of Uvaranas, she worked for many years at the State College Professor João Ricardo von Borell du Vernay and was marked by affection, charisma and coexistence with students and residents of the community.
The news of his death has provoked protests among people who have lived with Irene over the years. Known simply as Aunt Irene by students, alumni and members of the school community, she built a close relationship with different generations who passed through Borel College.
A figure remembered for generations
During the years she worked at the institution, Aunt Irene became a well-known presence in the daily life of the school. In addition to the work carried out on site, she was remembered for the cheerful way she received the students and the close relationship she had with the community.
One of the memories shared after the news of her death is a phrase she used to sing at the entrance of the high school:
“Course in hand, card in hand.”
The expression remained in the memory of students who attended the institution and became one of the hallmarks of his passage through the Borel College.
Resident of Uvaranas, Irene de Oliveira Guimarães was also known outside the school environment and maintained a strong connection with the community of the region.

The funeral of Irene de Oliveira Guimarães, Tia Irene do Colégio Borel, takes place in the Municipal Chapel São José, in Ponta Grossa. The burial is scheduled for this Tuesday (29), at 16h, at the Cemitério São João Batista.
