Tourism professionals receive training to save lives in remote areas
First aid course in remote areas takes place in Piraí do Sul this weekend and trains tourism professionals from the Campos Gerais

A first aid course in remote areas will be held on Saturday (17) and Sunday (18), in the Piraí do Sul National Forest, in the Campos Gerais. The training will last 20 hours and will bring together 23 participants linked to the tourism sector, with activities aimed at emergency care in places where access to medical relief may be limited or delayed.
Called SAR (Rescue in Remote Areas), the training is promoted by the Tourism Development Agency of Campos Gerais (Adetur Campos Gerais) and seeks to increase the safety of professionals who work in natural environments and regions of difficult access.
Course will have emergency simulations
During the training, participants will be trained to recognize clinical and traumatic emergencies, perform the initial assessment of victims, and apply first aid procedures.
The training also addresses safety principles, decision-making, and evacuation strategies in isolated locations.
The methodology combines scientific knowledge with practical activities and simulations based on real rescue situations.
The course will be taught by Alan Jacob da Silva, a university professor and nurse with 16 years of experience in relief and rescue operations in remote areas, including international operations.
According to the instructor, the proposal is to prepare participants for situations different from those found in pre-hospital care performed in cities.
“Unlike urban pre-hospital care protocols, the course protocols are specific for working in distant areas, when you have limited resources,” he explains.
Training Prioritizes Practical Activities
An important part of the course will be carried out through accident simulations and emergency situations.
“The student doesn’t just learn theory. Through simulations, he puts his hand on the wound, on the blood, on the fracture. It only learns from those who practice,” says Alan.
According to the instructor, the examples presented during the training are based on occurrences experienced by him and by rescue teams along his professional trajectory.
For Alan, training also offers knowledge that can be used in addition to professional activity.
“Participants can expect the best course of their lives, not just when it comes to first aid. This course teaches lifelong lessons,” he says.
Campos Gerais Tourism Safety
The president of Adetur Campos Gerais, Guilherme Forbeck, says that the course is part of a series of initiatives aimed at the qualification and safety of tourist activities in the region.
“Adetur has been promoting a series of actions aimed at safety in tourism of the Campos Gerais. With an emphasis on natural areas, the SAR course offers a complete and qualified training for participants,” he says.
According to Forbeck, professionals prepared to respond to the first emergencies can make a difference especially in places far from urban centers.
“To talk about security in remote areas and nature is to talk about lives, where the first care is decisive. This type of initiative emphasizes the importance of emergency response protocols, necessary for a responsible operation,” he adds.
