The Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR) will define this Saturday (3), at 9 am, the 35 electronic ballot boxes that will be audited in the first round of the 2026 elections. The ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the courthouse in Curitiba, with participation open to the public and broadcast by the official YouTube channel.

Political parties and supervisory bodies may indicate the area, the electoral section and the audit mode, delivering the information in sealed and identified envelopes. If the nominations do not fill all the vacancies, the court will hold a draw to complete the selection.

The distribution provides 25 equipment for the Integrity Test, two for the Integrity Test with Biometrics and eight for the Authenticity Test of Electoral Systems. There will be no regionalization in the draw.

How the integrity test works

On Sunday (4), votes previously filled in on paper ballots will be typed in the selected ballot boxes, simulating an electoral section. The procedure will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., following the voting time.

At the end, the Urn Bulletins will be printed. The results recorded by the equipment must correspond to the votes of the ballots, allowing to check the collection and counting.

The ballot boxes removed from the polling stations for this test will be replaced by contingency equipment. The votes used in the audit do not enter the official counting of the election.

Audit also checks the systems

The Authenticity Test will be carried out in the selected sections, before the beginning of the voting, to verify that the installed systems are those authorized by the Superior Electoral Court. The biometric test will have voters who will release the equipment by fingerprinting, at PUCPR, in Curitiba.

The team went through training

To prepare for the operation, the TRE-PR brought together 130 volunteers in a simulated on September 24. The team includes servers from Justiça Eleitoral, other judicial bodies and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
