Truck with 49 tons enters escape area of BR-277 after brake failure in Morretes
Driver was not injured; incident occurred on Friday (9) in Morretes

The exhaust area located at kilometer 36,800 of BR-277, in Morretes, registered a new access in the early hours of Friday (6). A truck loaded with 49 tons of bran failed the brake system while heading in the direction of the coastal highway.
Teams from EPR Litoral Pioneiro attended the occurrence. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was not injured.
This is the 44th access recorded since the EPR Litoral Pioneiro restored the structure in March 2024. The device has saved 128 lives.
The exhaust area is 180 meters long, 5 meters internal width and is filled with 360 tons of kinasite, corresponding to 735 cubic meters of material, similar to the expanded clay balls used in gardening. In addition, it has the capacity to stop a 57-ton truck traveling at 140 km/h.
Before the structure there is also the approach lane, with 120 meters of extension and special paint to alert the drivers. The dealership reinforces the guidance that, for safety reasons, vehicles are not allowed to stop on the approach lane.
