Construction of UBS Socavão in Castro reaches 85%. Investment exceeds R$1.2 million and completion is scheduled for December 2026.

The renovation and extension works of UBS Socavão, in Castro, in the Campos Gerais, reached 85% execution. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, providing a more modern and comfortable structure for district residents who use public health services.
With an investment of more than R$ 1.2 million, the project contemplates improvements in the existing structure, expansion of medical offices, adaptations in the pharmacy and in the physiotherapy sector, in addition to the construction of new receptions, service rooms and environments destined for servers.
The initiative seeks to expand the capacity of care and offer better conditions for both patients and professionals working in the unit.
Reform enters the phase of internal improvement
With most of the services executed, the next stage of the works provides for interventions in the internal environments of UBS Socavão. Among the works scheduled are painting, repairs and adaptations of the spaces.
The changes were planned to meet the needs of the community and improve the organization of services provided to the population of the district.
The mayor of Castro, Reinaldo Cardoso, stressed that the reform integrates a set of investments made in the region.
“The Socavão has been the target of large investments. In addition to the R$ 89 million earmarked for paving the road that connects PR-090 to the district, we are transforming UBS into a superimposed, aiming to give more quality and structure to residents,” he said.
Improvements meet community requests
According to the Municipal Health Secretariat, the project was developed considering requests submitted by residents and professionals who work in the unit.
The municipal secretary of Health, Matilvani Moreira, explained that the interventions were discussed in meetings to identify the main needs of UBS.
“The expansion project meets the demands of the community and staff, who brought their needs in meetings held by the Secretariat. It is a construction discussed and thought for the well-being of all and the improvement of the health of the region,” he stressed.
The expectation is that, after completion, the unit will offer a more adequate structure for the care carried out in the district.
Other health facilities also receive investments
In addition to UBS Socavão, other health units in Castro are undergoing construction, reform and structural improvements.
At UBS Alvorada, the works have already exceeded 95% of completion. With an approximate investment of R$ 660,000, the forecast is that the reform will be finalized soon.
UBS Marcos Simão received about R$ 42,000 for painting services and improvements in the physical structure.
Another work in progress is the construction of UBS São Miguel, which has reached approximately 77% execution.
The investments are part of the actions to improve the infrastructure of the municipal health network, with the aim of offering more suitable environments and strengthening the care of the population of Castro.
