UEPG ranks 148th in Latin America ranking
University of Ponta Grossa dropped four positions in the 2027 QS survey; six Paraná institutions appear among the top 200

The Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG) ranks 148th in the 2027 QS ranking of Latin American and Caribbean universities. The institution was four places below the result of the previous edition, when it appeared in 144th place.
Released on Thursday (1st), the survey of Quacquarelli Symonds brings together higher education institutions in the region and allows to compare the performance of universities on different indicators. The classification is regional, covering Latin America and the Caribbean.
Even with the retreat, the UEPG remains among the top 150 placed. The university of Ponta Grossa is part of the group of six Paraná institutions that appear among the 200 best of the edition.
What the universities of the Paraná looked like
Among the six related institutions in Paraná, five lost positions compared to 2026. The only one that advanced was the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), which went from 122 to 119th place.
The Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) continues with the best placement of the state, in 37th. The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), in 96th, completes the Paranaense presence among the first 100.

Brazil has four universities in the top ten
The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile has maintained regional leadership. The University of São Paulo (USP) appears in second place, followed by the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Two other Brazilian women make up the group of the top ten: the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in fifth, and the State University of Paulista (Unesp), in sixth.
For UEPG, the result represents the maintenance of its presence among the classified institutions of the region, although with a position lower than that registered in the previous survey. The comparison of the placements, by itself, does not clarify which indicators determined the university's retreat from Ponta Grossa. To identify the factors that influenced this change, it is necessary to analyze the specific performance of the institution in the criteria used by QS.
