Video shows exact moment of accident with truck and vehicles in the region

A serious accident involving three vehicles of the Criminal Police of Paraná and other vehicles was registered on Thursday morning, on BR-277, in Irati, in the Central-South region of Paraná. A video released after the incident shows the moment when a wagon hits the vehicles that were stopped on the highway.

According to the information released about the accident, six vehicles were involved in the collision: four cars, including three cars of the Criminal Police, a Volkswagen Constellation truck and a Scania wagon of the type trunk.

Cars were stopped because of construction.

According to the Criminal Police of Paraná, the teams were making a service trip between Guarapuava and Irati when they needed to stop at a barrier installed on BR-277 because of the works carried out on the stretch. It was during this stop that the collision occurred. All three vehicles of the institution were hit.

With the force of the impact, one of the vehicles was practically destroyed and ended up next to the concrete wall that separates the runways. Images recorded after the accident show debris scattered along the highway and considerable damage to vehicles. Despite the violence of the strike, there was no record of victims in serious condition.

The policeman suffered minor injuries

A criminal officer suffered minor abrasions during the accident. According to the information released by the corporation, the server did not need to be referred to hospital care.

The Criminal Police also clarified that none of the three vehicles carried prisoners at the time of the collision. The vehicles were only on duty.

BR-277 had to be banned

Data released by the Via Araucária dealership indicate that the accident happened around 8:59 am. The highway had to be forbidden for the attendance of the occurrence, removal of vehicles and cleaning of the track. The first information pointed to blockages in both directions, provoking retention and requiring attention of the drivers who were traveling through the Irati region.

There is a divergence in the information released about the exact point of the accident. Initially, the occurrence was indicated at km 243, while later data pointed to km 249 of BR-277.

The route passes through works and changes in traffic. In August, the dealership had announced interventions between kilometers 249+500 and 250+300 for the construction of a new viaduct, with a reduction of the maximum speed to 40 km/h in the construction area. There is no official confirmation that the collision occurred at this point in the intervention.

Cause of accident will be investigated

The circumstances that caused the collision will still have to be determined. So far, there is no official confirmation of any mechanical failure, speeding, braking problem, distraction or responsibility of any of the drivers involved. The case should be analyzed by the bodies responsible for monitoring and attending to the occurrence.
