Villa Hilda turns 100 years old in Ponta Grossa and will have special programming from September 8 to 12 with music, children's activities and night visits

One of Ponta Grossa’s best-known historic properties comes to a special mark this month. The Villa Hilda celebrates 100 years on September 8 and will have five days of cultural programming to celebrate the centenary of construction, which currently houses the Aristides Spósito Municipal Museum.
The activities start on Tuesday (8) and continue until Saturday (12), with attractions aimed at different audiences. The programming prepared by Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, includes storytelling, treasure hunting, facial painting, rose planting, concerts, choral performances, musical theatre, dance and night visiting experiences.
A century of history in Ponta Grossa
Completed in 1926, the Villa Hilda was built by Alberto Thielen, an industrialist and merchant connected to the Adriatic Brewery.
With approximately 600 square meters and two floors, the property has influence of French neoclassical architecture and art nouveau. Inside, paintings with European and local landscapes and motifs remain.
The historical and architectural importance led to the overturning of the building by the Cultural Heritage of Paraná, in 1990.
Over the decades, the mansion has performed different functions. It once housed the Public Library of Ponta Grossa and was also the headquarters of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture.
Since 2023, the Municipal Museum Aristides Spósito has been operating on site, which brings together part of the collection of the old Museum Época, in addition to objects acquired or received through donations.
Birthday will have programming for children
The celebrations begin on the centennial day, Tuesday (8).
During the day, the public can participate in activities such as storytelling, planting roses in the garden, treasure hunting and facial painting.
At 7 pm, the String Orchestra of the Conservatory Maestro Paulino presents the concert “Princesses”. After the presentation, there will be an overnight visitor experience through the mansion.
On Wednesday (9), children’s activities continue in the morning and afternoon periods. The evening program starts at 7 pm, with presentations by Educanto (CAIC/Entretons), Grupo de Canto da Proex and Corais Satélite, in addition to new visitation at night.
Theatre, dance and music integrate celebrations
On Thursday (10), the daytime programming keeps the activities for the children's public. At 7 pm, the Musical Theatre Group of the Conservatory presents a evening, followed by an evening experience.
On Friday (11), in addition to the actions for children, the evening program will have presentations of the Ballet of the Arts, Violin Group of the Conservatory and Flute Group, from 7 pm.
The closing will be on Saturday (12). The activities start at 10am, with a breakfast. At 3 p.m., there will be a talk with Isolde Waldermann.
The artistic programming of the last day begins at 17:30, with the Choir of the Conservatory. At 7 pm, the Children's Choir of the Conservatory closes the celebrations.
Heritage that has spanned generations
For the Municipal Secretary of Culture, Alberto Portugal, celebrating the centenary of Villa Hilda also means valuing the history of Ponta Grossa.
“To celebrate 100 years of Villa Hilda is also to celebrate a bit of Ponta Grossa’s own history. It is a heritage that has crossed generations and now gains even more life with the Municipal Museum, allowing the population to know, visit and recognize this space as part of its own history.
The program seeks, in addition to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the construction, to bring new audiences closer to the historical heritage and expand the community’s relationship with the Municipal Museum Aristides Spósito.
