Woman with baby stroller attacked by dogs in Ponta Grossa

A woman who was walking with the baby in a stroller and two small dogs was surprised by three large dogs in the Uvaranas neighborhood, in Ponta Grossa. The attack took place on September 21. According to the police, the animals escaped from a nearby residence.

The woman suffered an injury to her hand while trying to protect herself and the dogs that accompanied her. The injury was confirmed by an examination carried out at the Medical-Legal Institute (IML). The Civil Police note does not inform that the baby has been injured.

During the count, police heard the victim, witnesses and the guardian of the three dogs. According to research, the same animals would have escaped on other occasions. The leaks were cause for concern among residents and were discussed in a communication group among neighbors.

Investigation of the Civil Police

For the Civil Police, the elements gathered indicate, in thesis, that sufficient measures were not taken to prevent further escapes. The tutor was responsible, in thesis, for the infractions of omission of caution in the care of animals and culprit bodily injury.

A circumstantial term of criminal offence has been drawn up, which will be referred to the Judiciary. The parties must attend a hearing in the Special Criminal Court.

Delegate Fernando Henrique Ribeiro Vieira, responsible for the sector that conducted the survey, highlighted the need to prevent situations like this, especially when there are already previous records of escape.

“The responsibility for the care of an animal requires the adoption of concrete measures to prevent escapes and prevent foreseeable situations from endangering the integrity of people and other animals.”

The accountability pointed out by the Civil Police will be submitted to the Justice.
