A young woman dies after a shock in the Paraná during a domestic activity in Pinhalão, in the North Pioneer. Paola Azevedo, 18, suffered an electric shock after she came into contact with an extension that had a damaged wire and was connected to a washing machine.
The incident occurred on Thursday at the residence where the young woman was staying. According to the information obtained by the authorities, Paola was stretching clothes when she came into contact with the electrical extension and received the discharge.
Rescue teams were called in to respond to the incident. The young woman was quickly referred to a hospital unit in the region, but arrived at the site without any vital signs. The death was later confirmed by the care team.
Witnesses gave testimony
According to information from the Civil Police, two witnesses were heard during the initial investigation of the case. The reports indicated that the extension used in the residence had damage to the wire and was connected to the washing machine.
The electric discharge would have occurred just at the moment when Paola was carrying out a domestic activity close to the equipment.
The Civil Police have initiated an investigation to clarify all the circumstances of the occurrence and officially determine how the accident happened.
Police investigate shock circumstances
The investigation should analyze the conditions of the electrical installation and the equipment cited by the testimonials, in addition to the other elements gathered on site.
So far, the information points to an accidental shock. The police investigation, however, will be responsible for confirming the dynamics of the occurrence.
Paola Azevedo was 18 years old. The body of the young woman was buried in Pinhalão, a municipality of the North Pioneer of Paraná.
The case of a young person who dies after a shock on the Paraná also draws attention to the care needed in the use of extensions, plugs and electrical equipment indoors.
Bare wires, improvised splices or equipment with signs of wear may pose a risk of electric shock. The recommendation is to stop using any equipment that presents problems and seek appropriate technical evaluation before re-using it.
