Zampieri rebuts left after Lula's victory: "Ponta Grossa is a city of the right"
Councilman defended Elizabeth Schmidt's electoral stance, criticized the PT, and demanded explanations about the UEPG DCE's role in the campaign

Ricardo Zampieri criticized the PT and rebuffed demonstrations by Lula’s allies during Monday’s session of the Câmara Municipal de Ponta Grossa. In the speech, the elected state deputy highlighted the performance of Flávio Bolsonaro's candidacy in the municipality and defended the freedom of prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt to choose his support in the presidential election.
“Ponta Grossa is a right-wing city. Ponta Grossa knows how to choose its representatives,” he said. According to Zampieri, the mobilization carried out during the campaign demonstrated the strength of the conservative electorate in the city and in the Campos Gerais. The MP reported the carrying out of carriages, distribution of stickers and installation of flags.
He also thanked the councillors who declared support for the PL's candidacy and stated that the national result should not demobilize supporters. “It’s not because we have an election result that we don’t agree, but that it happened, that we’re going to lower our heads. On the contrary, we have to raise our heads,” he said.

Elizabeth's Defense
Zampieri also responded to criticism that Elizabeth had been ungrateful to the federal government, referring to investments destined for Ponta Grossa. For him, receiving funds does not oblige the mayor to support the president politically.
“At what point was she ungrateful with the current federal government? Why didn't she want to support the federal government? I think we are in a democracy. She votes for whoever she wants, she supports whoever she wants,” he said. In the meantime, he stressed that the municipal administration should maintain openness to institutional dialogue. The councillor also expressed concern about the relationship between the federal government and the Paraná.
Criticisms of PT and questions to UEPG
In one of the hardest stretches of the speech, Zampieri attacked the favorable result to Lula in other regions of the country. “We don’t accept thieves here, but unfortunately maybe other regions do,” he said.
The MP also stated that he intended to collect explanations from the Ponta Grossa State University about an alleged political use of the Central Directory of Students during the campaign. In his assessment, the action would have contravened internal rules of the institution.
“We want to know how the rector and the rectory will pronounce themselves,” he said. The transcripted statement does not contain documents proving the alleged irregularity nor does it contain a university response. Zampieri also questioned the conduct of the electoral process and cited alleged changes to the voting rules. The statements were presented without proof in the material analyzed and do not show irregularity in the result of the polls.
In closing, he said that he will continue with political collections and parliamentary work, first in the House of Ponta Grossa and, subsequently, in the Legislative Assembly of Paraná.
