After fleeing, Flávio declares himself elected president in a letter
Flávio Bolsonaro releases a letter from the US, declares himself elected president, accuses fraud without evidence and promises to lead the opposition.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) released on Wednesday (28) a three-page letter after fleeing Brazil and reaching Estados Unidos. In the document, the defeated candidate in the presidential elections on Sunday (25) declares himself the true elected president of the country, denounces an alleged electoral fraud and makes harsh accusations against the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) and the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
At the opening, Flávio affirms: "I address the Brazilian people and the international community as the true elected president of Brazil."
The declaration contradicts the official result of the elections, which confirmed Lula’s re-election with approximately 64.1 million votes, or 51.7% of the valid votes. Flavio was defeated by a difference of more than 4.4 million votes.
Allegations of electoral fraud
In the letter, Flávio Bolsonaro claims to have witnessed an alleged fraud during the counting of the second round. According to him, judicial decisions related to the extension of the vote would have caused irregularities in the electoral process.
The senator also questions the increase in Lula’s vote between the first and second rounds and accuses the federal government of using the public machine to favor re-election.
Flavio even defends the cassation of the Lula-Alckmin plate, alleging abuse of political and economic power.
Despite the charges, the senator did not present any evidence of electoral fraud or irregular alteration of the results.
Flavio denies escape and accuses STF of persecution
Another central point of the document is the attempt to justify his departure from Brazil. Flavio claims he decided to travel to the Estados Unidos to protect the family from alleged political persecution.
"I did not run away from Brazil, I left for Brazil," the senator declared, adding that he intends to continue to act politically from abroad.
He also claims that there is no arrest warrant against him and accuses STF members of trying to silence the opposition.
However, the departure from the country occurred after a determination of the minister Alexandre de Moraes for Flávio to hand over his passports to the Federal Police. The senator is being investigated in an investigation related to suspected money laundering, allegations he denies.
According to information released by Agência Brasil, Flavio left Brazilian territory by the border with Argentina, passed through Ecuador and landed in Miami on the morning of Wednesday (28), accompanied by his wife and daughters.
Thanks to Trump and Milei
The senator also thanked the presidents of Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, and of Argentina, Javier Milei.
In the document, Flavio praises Trump, classifying him as a defender of freedom of expression, and thanks the U.S. government for welcoming his family.
The parliamentarian states that he intends to remain in the Estados Unidos because he considers that he does not have legal security in Brazil.
Promise to lead the opposition from abroad
In the final part of the letter, Flávio Bolsonaro announces that it intends to assume the leadership of the Brazilian opposition from the Estados Unidos.
He addresses a message to senators, deputies and governors who supported his candidacy, especially mentioning Rogério Marinho, his candidate for the presidency of the Senate.
“I will tell you what you can’t say, and I will take the risks you can’t take,” he said.
Flavio also promises to present, in the coming days, a strategy to mobilize his supporters by means that he describes as peaceful and legitimate.
In closing the document, the senator emphasizes that he does not intend to abandon political action and maintains that he will continue to contest the result of the presidential election.
The letter was released by allies, including businessman Paulo Figueiredo, who resides in Estados Unidos.
The text represents the first more extensive manifestation of Flávio Bolsonaro after its arrival in U.S. territory. So far, the allegations of electoral fraud presented by the senator have not been accompanied by evidence that invalidates the official result of the polls.
