Alberto Valentim is the new coach of Operário and signs until 2027

Alberto Valentim no Operário marks the beginning of a new stage in the football of Fantasma. The coach is the new commander of the alvinegra team and arrives at Ponta Grossa with a contract valid until the end of 2027. The choice is part of the Board’s attempt to build a more lasting project, with the main objective of bringing the club to the Série A of the Brazilian Championship.

The arrival takes place shortly after the departure of Luizinho Lopes, announced on Wednesday night (7). The coach left the club after Operário's 2-1 defeat to Botafogo-SP, in Estádio Germano Krüger, for the 32nd round of Serie B.

Even with the change in technical command, the Worker has not yet given up on the main objective of the season. With six rounds remaining until the end of the championship, the Phantom intends to react immediately and continue fighting for access to the national elite.

Contract until 2027 shows bet on longer project

Unlike a contract focused only on the last games of this season, Alberto Valentim arrives with bond until 2027.

The duration of the contract demonstrates the intention of the Worker to continue the work regardless of the outcome of the final rounds of the current Series B.

The big goal of the planning is to put the Ghost on the Série A. The club still believes that this could happen in 2026, but also begins to structure the next season in advance.

Valentine, therefore, will have two practically simultaneous challenges: try an immediate reaction in the national competition and start implementing a work that will have continuity next year.

The worker still believes in access

The most urgent mission will be to retrieve the team after a sequence of results that has pushed the Ghost away from the first places.

After 32 games, the Worker adds 48 points and still has six commitments ahead. There are 18 points available in this final straight.

The defeat for Botafogo-SP increased the pressure on the team and provoked the change in the technical command, but internally access is still treated as a possible goal.

In order to turn this possibility into reality, however, the Phantom will need to present a practically immediate reaction and recover points in the last rounds.

Alberto Valentim arrives with experience in Brazilian football

Alberto Valentim has played for different Brazilian football clubs during his coaching career.

Among the teams he has already led are Palmeiras, Botafogo, Vasco, Avaí, Cuiabá, Athletico Paranaense, Atlético-GO, Ituano, Ponte Preta and América-MG.

One of the main moments of the trajectory took place at the Athletico Paranaense, where he won the 2021 Copa Sul-Americana.

Now, the coach assumes the Worker at a decisive moment of the season and with the prospect of remaining in the club also during 2027.

The first can happen against Goiás.

The first commitment of the Worker after the departure of Luizinho Lopes will be right in front of his crowd.

The Phantom faces Goiás on Sunday (11), at 6:30 pm, at Estádio Germano Krüger, in Ponta Grossa, for the 33rd round of the Serie B.

The match is even more important given the situation of the club in the championship. With only six rounds remaining, each point will have even greater weight in the attempt to get back closer to the G4 contest.

The arrival of Alberto Valentim represents a bet on two fronts: an immediate reaction to try to keep alive the dream of Série A still in 2026 and the construction of a project with continuity for the next season.
