Arrecadação in PG region reaches R$ 859 million in August and exceeds inflation

The federal collection in Ponta Grossa and in the other 63 municipalities served by the local Federal Revenue Department reached R$859.1 million in August 2026. The value represents a nominal increase of 11.27% compared to August last year and, deducting the inflation measured by the HICP, a real expansion of 6.76%. The data was released by the Delegate Remy Deiab Junior of the Federal Revenue on Monday (28)

In August 2025, the collection had been R$ 772.1 million. In direct comparison, therefore, approximately R$ 87 million more entered the federal coffers this year. The Federal Revenue Department of Ponta Grossa has jurisdiction over 64 municipalities, which means that the figures disclosed do not correspond exclusively to the economy of Ponta Grossa, but to the entire area administered by the unit.

Collection exceeds R $ 7.5 billion in the year

In the accumulated period between January and August 2026, collections of farm and pension taxes reached R$ 7.573 billion.

In the same period of 2025, R$ 7,118 billion had been raised. The difference is approximately R$ 455.4 million, the equivalent of a nominal high of 6.40%.

The figures show that the collection maintains a trajectory of growth compared to last year. However, it is important to note that increase in tax revenue should not be interpreted automatically as economic growth of equal intensity.

Income is also influenced by factors such as wage mass, profitability of companies, imports, sales volume, pension collections, tax compensation and changes in the dynamics of certain taxes.

What helped the collection to grow

The Federal Revenue also presented factors observed in the 9th Fiscal Region, formed by Paraná and Santa Catarina, which influenced the regional results and also had reflections on the area administered by the Ponta Grossa Police Station.

One of the most significant movements was the increase in import-related taxes. In the 9th Fiscal Region, the revenue of this category advanced 29.5%, representing an additional R$ 1.43 billion.

The volume, in dollars, of goods imported by the region grew by 14.8%, while the average exchange rate fell by 5.39%.

Employment and wages influence social security contributions

Another highlight was the pension collection, which increased 8.2% in the nominal comparison, an increase of approximately R$ 529.7 million in the 9th Fiscal Region.

According to the Federal Revenue, one of the factors related to the result was the growth of 7.5% of the nominal wage mass, corresponding to a rise of 2.9% when considered inflation.

This indicator is particularly relevant because the behaviour of the payroll is associated with both the level of formal employment and the remuneration of workers.

Companies collected more IRPJ and CSLL

Taxes related to company results also performed positively. The joint collection of Income Tax of the Legal Person (IRPJ) and Social Contribution on the Net Income (CSLL) advanced 11.9%, an increase of R$ 249.8 million in the 9th Region.

The Revenue indicates growth in the different modalities of calculation, including quarterly balance, assumed profit and monthly estimate. The data suggests increased collections related to business activity, although, in isolation, it does not allow to measure the specific performance of companies of Ponta Grossa.

Simple National also grows

Another important indicator was the Simples Nacional, used mainly by micro and small companies. Collections grew 9.1%, or R$ 242.2 million, compared to August of the previous year. As Simples brings together several taxes in a single payment, the advance influences federal taxes such as IRPJ, CSLL, PIS/Cofins, pension contribution and IPI, as well as state and municipal taxes, such as ICMS and ISS.

For a region with a strong presence of small businesses, trade and service providers, this is an indicator that deserves monitoring over the coming months.

Trade and services help PIS and Cofins

The collection of Cofins and PIS/Pasep, excluding imports, grew 5.3%, or R$ 169 million. According to the Revenue Department, they had a positive influence mainly segments related to wholesale trade, except vehicles and motorcycles, as well as office services, administrative support and other services.

There was also an increase of 16.3% in the IOF collection, mainly related to credit operations of companies and individuals.

Not all the tributes went forward.

Despite the overall positive result, some items showed retraction. The IPI incident on automobiles fell 16.2%, a reduction of R$ 3.3 million, even with an increase in the number of licensed vehicles.

There was also a small decrease of 0.3% in the Income Tax Withheld at Source on labor income, equivalent to R$ 3.9 million in the 9th Fiscal Region.

What the numbers say about the regional economy

For the Ponta Grossa region, the most relevant August data is that the growth of the collection did not occur only in nominal terms. Even after discounting inflation, there was a real increase of 6.76% over August 2025. The result indicates an effective increase in the volume of taxes collected within the area served by the Federal Revenue Service of Ponta Grossa.

With R$ 7.57 billion raised in the first eight months of 2026, the next results will allow us to assess whether the growth rate observed in August will be maintained until the end of the year.
