A little over a month old baby died on Friday morning at a residence on Teixeira de Freitas Street in the New Russia neighborhood region in Ponta Grossa. According to preliminary information, there is a suspicion that the child has suffered a choking with breast milk.
The incident mobilized teams from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu), who were called to provide help to the child. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the baby did not resist.
According to the first reports, family members perceived the emergency situation and tried to perform resuscitation procedures while waiting for the arrival of specialized care.
The exact circumstances of what happened must still be clarified. So far, the possible choking is treated as an initial hypothesis, without official confirmation of the cause of death.

The Scientific Police were also mobilized to attend to the occurrence and carry out the necessary procedures to clarify the case.
The expert work may help determine the circumstances that caused the child’s death. The confirmation of the cause of death depends on the surveys and examinations carried out by the responsible organs.
The initial information presents divergences on the exact age of the baby, pointed to being 34 days. There is also a report of occurrence involving a baby of approximately two months in the region of Vila Cristina. It was not yet possible to confirm whether the reports refer to the same care or to different situations.
When Emergency Teams are mobilized
The death of the child occurs amid concern about choking episodes involving newborns and babies, situations that require rapid attention.
In cases of choking with airway obstruction, the guidance is to immediately trigger the Samu, by phone 192, and follow the instructions of the emergency team. First aid maneuvers should be appropriate to the age of the child.
