The Worker vs CRB on Wednesday (9) has all the ingredients of an early decision for the Ghost in Series B. With 12 rounds to go until the end of the run-point phase, there is not much room for wasting points, especially inside the home.

The 2-1 victory over Londrina last Sunday put the Worker back in a privileged position on the table. The Phantom reached 40 points and occupies the seventh place, ahead of Atlético-GO, which has the same score, but a victory less.

This is where the game of Wednesday comes in.

The CRB is in sixth, with 42 points. That is, it is a direct confrontation by the G6.

Victory puts the Worker in the G6

The account is quite simple.

If he wins the CRB, the Worker reaches 43 points, surpasses his opponent and enters the group of the first six regardless of the result of Atlético-GO. This is because the Phantom would achieve its 12th victory, while the Goian team, even winning in the round, would reach 11th.

So we are not just talking about three more points.

We are talking about the possibility of the Worker taking a position among the clubs that will compete for access to the Série A.

In the 2026 Serie B, the top two places go straight up. The teams that finish between the third and sixth positions will play playoffs, with the 3rd facing the 6th and the 4th facing the 5th, in round-trip confrontations.

That’s why being in the G6 has gained even more weight this season.

Germano Krüger needs to be the differentiator

From now on, I consider it essential for the Worker to transform the games within the German Krüger into victories.

No more wasting points at home.

When the championship enters its decisive straight, each stumbling as a leader charges a heavy bill in front. Against a direct competitor like CRB, this importance is even greater.

The draw would not be a tragedy, of course, but it keeps CRB ahead and wastes an excellent opportunity to overtake just sixth place.

Winning completely changes the scenario.

The Worker would wake up on Thursday inside the G6 and with high confidence after two consecutive victories.

The ghost of relegation is far away

It is also possible to look down with much more tranquility.

With 40 points, while Avaí totaled 29 in 17th position, the Worker opened a considerable margin over the relegation zone.

It is not correct to say that there is a mathematical guarantee of permanence, because there are still many points in dispute. But, looking at the reality of competition, the Phantom can direct his attentions much higher than down.

That is the great merit of the victory in Londrina.

The Worker stopped looking in the rear-view mirror and saw the G6 clearly again.

Now you need to seize this opportunity.

Worker will have to play more than he played in Londrina

Despite the victory in the classic against Londrina, I believe that the Worker will have to present more football to defeat CRB.

Wednesday's opponent goes through a consistent moment in Serie B and arrives at Germano Krüger occupying just the last position within the playoffs zone.

It's gonna be a tough game.

Too hard.

Defensively, I see evolution in the Worker. The team has gained consistency and has managed to protect themselves better. This balance will be indispensable in the face of a dangerous CRB offensively.

The problem is from the middle forward.

Players like Diniz and Boschilia can deliver more technically. They are athletes with enough quality to raise the level of the midfield and need to appear right now, when the championship starts to demand decisions.

In the attack, the concern is even greater.

Attack needs to respond

The offensive sector remains, for me, the main problem of the Worker.

Pabllo is going through a very bad phase. Neto Paraíba has been important at certain times, while Ángel Torres still seeks greater regularity throughout the 90 minutes.

Against Londrina, for example, Torres had better participation in the first half, but dropped production after the break.

Aylon, when triggered, has not yet been able to deliver what the Worker offensively needs.

To dispute access, it is not enough to defend well.

We have to make goals.

And especially within the German Krüger, the Worker needs to find alternatives to put pressure on the opponents and turn game volume into clear odds.

Wednesday has a decision face.

Worker and CRB are teams of quite similar level. That is why I imagine an extremely balanced confrontation.

If the rain forecast for Ponta Grossa is confirmed, the condition of the lawn may also interfere with the style of the match. In these conditions, usually wins the one who can defend himself better, make less mistakes and take advantage of the opportunities that appear.

And the Worker needs to reduce just one problem that has been frequent: the number of wrong passes.

Perfect performance will not be required.

Competitive action will be needed.

The Phantom has shown in recent years that it grows when it finds games of decisive character ahead. This was the case in the Paranaense Championship, in the Copa do Brasil and in different moments of Serie B.

Now one more of these games has appeared.

Is it possible to win the CRB? Of course it is.

Will it be easy? Not even a little.

But at this point in the competition, those who really want to fight for access need to win clashes like this.

And Wednesday is the day the Worker shows if he’s only near the G6 or if he’s really ready to be part of it.
