Brazilian Air Force helicopter scares residents by landing in Paraná plantation
Black Hawk made a safety landing in Candói on Monday afternoon (12). No one was injured, and the aircraft continued its journey after weather conditions improved
A Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) helicopter landed at a corn plantation in Candoi, in the central region of Paraná, on Monday afternoon, due to weather conditions. The approach of the aircraft surprised residents of the rural property. Nobody was hurt.
The helicopter, model H-60 Black Hawk, belongs to the Fifth Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group, known as the Panther Squadron, from Santa Maria Air Base, in Rio Grande do Sul.
In a note, the FAB reported that the crew made a security landing due to the weather conditions recorded in the municipality. After the stop, the aircraft proceeded normally to Maringá, north of the Paraná.
Rain and fog made the trip difficult.
According to the data from the Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System (Simepar) cited in the report, the region recorded more than 70 millimeters of rain throughout the day.
Resident Eliane Severo said the family heard the noise of the helicopter during the rain and then realized that it had landed on the crop. The point chosen for the landing is approximately 500 meters from the farmer’s residence.
After the arrival of the aircraft, the residents went to talk to the military. According to Eliane, the crew reported that they faced fog and low visibility during the journey.
According to the resident, the military explained that they reduced the altitude to try to find better visibility conditions. The presence of electrical grid structures, however, required attention and contributed to the decision to wait on the ground.
Aircraft stayed more than an hour at the property
According to Eliane, the landing occurred around 4 p.m., and the helicopter took off at about 5 p.m. During this period, the crew remained at the property awaiting favorable conditions to resume the trip.

The resident positively evaluated the decision of the pilot to interrupt the displacement to preserve the safety of the occupants.
The FAB classified the maneuver as a safety landing and confirmed the continuity of the flight to Maringá.
