Carambeí is the 6th best city in Paraná in development; mayor celebrates the result

The result of the IPDM Carambeí placed the municipality of Campos Gerais in the sixth position among the 399 cities of the Paraná in the municipal development ranking referring to 2024. With a score of 0.7743, Carambeí appears among the highlights of the survey released on Tuesday (27) by the Paranaense Institute of Economic and Social Development (Ipardes).

In addition to the overall ranking, Carambeí also achieved the fourth state position on the Income indicator, with a rating of 0.7392. The component considers factors such as remuneration of formal workers, generation of jobs and agricultural production.

The result was celebrated by prefeita Elisangela Pedroso, who spoke with the editorial staff of Portal BnT Online on Tuesday (27) and highlighted the work carried out by the municipal administration in recent years.

In an interview with Portal BnT Online, the mayor stated that the position won by Carambeí in the ranking represents the recognition of the efforts made by municipal management in different areas.

“For us it is a reason for great pride. This is the confirmation of a work that we have been doing during all these years of management, working on the issue of health, education, infrastructure, in the generation of employment through industrialization and in the incentive to small, medium and large companies," Elisangela stressed.

The mayor also stressed the importance of maintaining public policies focused on the needs of the population and stated that management should prioritize actions that contribute to the quality of life of residents.

"Proving that, once again, by doing management, by thinking about people, about those who really need public policies, everything works out. And we are very happy that, once again, Carambeí is standing out at the level of Paraná.”

The evaluation of the mayor relates the performance of the municipality to investments and initiatives made by the administration. The IPDM, in turn, uses official indicators to measure the results in the dimensions of Income, Health and Education.

Carambeí appears among the top ten municipalities of Paraná

In the general ranking of IPDM 2024, Curitiba occupies the first position, with a score of 0.8392. Palotina appears in second place, with 0.8036, followed by Maringá (0.7862), Toledo (0.7853) and Cafelândia (0.7798).

Carambeí completes the group of the first six, with 0.7743, ahead of Pato Branco, Douradina, Quatro Barras and Mandaguari.

The highlight also occurs in the Income component. Carambeí reached the fourth highest score of Paraná, behind only Curitiba, Quatro Barras and São José of the Pinhais.

The indicator considers aspects related to the formal labour market, including average remuneration, employment ties and the participation of agricultural production in the municipal economy.

More than 300 municipalities have improved their indicators

According to Ipardes, 308 of the 399 municipalities in Paraná showed improvement in the general index compared to the previous year. The number corresponds to more than 77% of the cities of the State.

Another result highlighted by the institute is that no municipality fell in the low performance range of the general index, which corresponds to scores below 0.40.

The municipality of Morretes, in the coast of Paraná, presented the largest proportional advance, with growth of 21.51% in the indicator.

They also recorded significant developments in Iguaraçu, Colorado, Lobato and Astorga.

Understand how IPDM works

The Ipardes Municipal Performance Index evaluates the conditions of development of the municipalities of Paraná from three main dimensions: Income, Health and Education.

The score ranges from zero to one. The closer to one, the better the performance of the municipality in the analyzed criteria.

In Education, the study considers indicators such as enrollment in educação infantil, full-time teaching, school stay, teacher qualification and results of the Educação Básica Development Index (Ideb).

In Health, aspects related to prenatal follow-up, infant mortality due to preventable causes and deaths associated with chronic non-communicable diseases are evaluated.

Already in the Income dimension, the indicators related to formal remuneration, employment and agricultural production enter.

The results are used as a reference for the planning of public policies and for the identification of areas that need investment.

For Carambeí, the sixth placement represents a highlight in the state scenario and places the municipality of Campos Gerais among the best evaluated of Paraná in the survey referring to 2024.
