CECON opens registration for free computer classes for seniors in Ponta Grossa

CECON New Russia, at Ponta Grossa, is with open enrolment for free computer classes aimed at the public aged 60 or over. The initiative is promoted by Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Social Welfare Foundation of Ponta Grossa (FASPG), with the aim of encouraging digital inclusion and expanding the autonomy of older people.

The registrations can be made between 22 and 25 September, by sending the Reference Center of Social Assistance (CRAS) of reference of the interested party.

The start of the activities is scheduled for September 29, with the formation of two classes on different days and times.

How do computer classes work for the elderly?

The program will have two classes, organized to meet the participants in different periods of the week.

The first class will have classes on Tuesdays, from 13h to 17h. The second one will be held on Thursdays, from 8 am to 12 noon.

The activities will take place at CECON New Russia, at Ponta Grossa.

The proposal is to provide participants with the opportunity to develop skills related to the use of computers, contributing to expand access to digital tools and facilitate everyday activities.

Who can participate in the free classes?

The vacancies are aimed at elderly people referenced in the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) and beneficiaries of the Continuing Benefit (BPC).

To participate, interested parties must look for the reference CRAS and request referral to computer classes.

Each CRAS unit can refer up to two students to the program.

The registration period ends on Friday (25th), and the activities are scheduled to begin next Tuesday (29th).

Digital inclusion seeks to extend the autonomy of the elderly

Ponta Grossa Social Welfare Foundation (FASPG) president Tatyana Belo highlights that access to digital tools helps older people have more independence in their daily activities.

“To know how to use a mobile phone or access the Internet today is synonymous with autonomy, and that is what we want to offer to those who trust in our work,” he says.

The initiative integrates the actions developed by the social assistance of the municipality, offering opportunities for learning and encouraging the participation of the elderly in the digital environment.
