Child of 8 years suffers multiple fractures after serious accident in Ponta Grossa

An 8-year-old child suffered multiple fractures after a serious traffic accident recorded late on Wednesday (23), at Rua Rio Cavernoso, in the Neves region, at Ponta Grossa. The boy was in a Renault Logan that was involved in a frontal collision with a Volkswagen Parati, near the train bridge and the Federal University of Technology of Paraná (UTFPR).

According to the new information obtained by Portal BnT Online, the child initially suffered fractures in the femur, fibula and tibia. After receiving the first assistance from the relief teams, the boy was referred to the João Vargas de Oliveira Children's Hospital, known as UMAI, in Ponta Grossa.

The child was in the Renault Logan accompanied by a woman, who was also injured in the accident. Due to the gravity of the incident, teams from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and the Fire Department were mobilized to provide care to the victims.

The woman who occupied the Renault Logan together with the boy received assistance from the Samu aeromedical team and was referred to hospital care.

So far, the woman’s age has not been reported. There is also no confirmation about the hospital to which she was taken or updated details about her health status.

The first information about the accident indicated that two victims had been classified as code 3, a condition that indicates serious condition and the need for urgent medical attention.

50-year-old man was in Parati

The other vehicle involved in the frontal collision was a Volkswagen Parati, driven by a 50-year-old man.

With the violence of the impact, Parati was completely destroyed. According to the information initially released by BnT Online, one of the victims was trapped in the hardware and had to be removed by rescue teams.

The accident mobilized teams from Siate, the Fire Department and the Samu, including the aeromedical service and an advanced support ambulance.

The collision took place at Rua Rio Cavernoso, near the train bridge in the Neves region. During the service to the victims, traffic was partially blocked, with the formation of lines of vehicles in the stretch.

The circumstances that caused the frontal hit have not yet been clarified.
