Accident on BR-163 in Marechal Cândido Rondon was recorded by camera; cyclist jumped off bike before truck overturned.
A crash on BR-163, in Marshal Cândido Rondon, almost ended in tragedy on Saturday morning (10). A security camera recorded the moment a Toyota Hilux truck lost control, left the track and rolled over towards a cyclist, who managed to jump off the bike seconds before being hit.
The images impress by the proximity between the vehicle and the man. At the time of the accident, the cyclist was traveling through the area when he noticed the unruly truck coming towards him.
Cyclist escapes before impact
When he noticed the risk, the man reacted quickly and left the bike just moments before the truck reached the place where he was.
During the rollovers, already on the marginal road of the BR-163, the bicycle ended up being hit. Despite the violence of the accident, the cyclist suffered no injuries.
He was still treated at the site of the occurrence, but there was no need for referral to a hospital unit.
The video recorded by a security camera shows the sequence of the accident and shows that the man escaped for a few seconds from being hit directly by the truck.
Four people were in the truck.
Four occupants were inside Toyota Hilux at the time of the crash on BR-163.
All had injuries considered mild and were referred to hospital care in Marechal Cândido Rondon.
Despite the damage caused by the rollover, there was no record of serious injuries.
Suspicion is of aquaplaning
The Federal Road Police (PRF) was on site to attend the occurrence, organize the situation on the highway and carry out the necessary procedures to ascertain the circumstances of the accident.
The main initial suspicion is that the truck suffered aquaplaning due to wet track conditions.
Aquaplaning occurs when the tires lose proper contact with the asphalt due to the presence of water on the track, significantly reducing the driver’s ability to control the vehicle.
The exact circumstances of the accident must still be analyzed.
The episode draws attention mainly to the images recorded by the security camera. The cyclist was able to perceive the danger and leave the bike at the last minute, avoiding potentially much more serious consequences.
