Deaf Artists Show Highlights Inclusion and Culture in Ponta Grossa
Deaf Artists Show in Ponta Grossa brought the community together at CRAS 31 de Março with painting, photography, drawing and performances in Libras
The Deaf Artists Show in Ponta Grossa gathered users, family members and residents of the community on Thursday (24), at the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) March 31. With the theme “Hands that Create, Art that Speaks”, the initiative presented different forms of artistic expression and highlighted the importance of inclusion and appreciation of the deaf community.
The activity was promoted by CRAS March 31 in partnership with ACAP – Geny Ribas. Throughout the afternoon, the public had contact with productions developed by deaf artists in different languages, including painting, drawing and photography, as well as presentations in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).
Art as a form of communication
The proposal of the exhibition was to create a space to give visibility to the artistic production of the deaf community and show how art can also function as an instrument of communication, expression and identity construction.
The initiative brought artists closer to the public and allowed residents to learn about different forms of cultural manifestation. The presented works highlighted experiences, perceptions and forms of expression, reinforcing the role of culture in social inclusion.
The president of the Social Assistance Foundation of Ponta Grossa (FASPG), Tatyana Belo, highlighted the importance of valuing the participants.
“Every work presented has shown that art is a form of communication capable of breaking down barriers. To value these artists is to recognize the power and identity of the deaf community,” he said.
Activity integrates the Blue September
The Deaf Artists Show at Ponta Grossa also integrated the programming related to Blue September, a period dedicated to raising awareness and increasing the visibility of the deaf community.
The action was held on the eve of the National Day of the Deaf, celebrated on Saturday (26). The date seeks to broaden the debate on inclusion, accessibility, respect for differences and recognition of the culture and identity of deaf people.
Through the realization of the exhibition at CRAS March 31, the activity also brought these discussions closer to the residents served by the social care services and the surrounding community itself.
In addition to valuing the talent of the participating artists, the initiative highlighted the importance of expanding spaces for deaf people to present their works, share experiences and occupy different cultural and community environments of Ponta Grossa.
