Death of 12-year-old boy after accident at school causes shock in Castro

The death of 12-year-old Luigi Gabriel da Cruz caused a stir in Castro, in the Campos Gerais. The student died after spending more than a week in a critically ill hospital after suffering a fall during a play with colleagues at Professor Basílio Chrum State College.

The accident happened on September 25. During a play between students, Luigi ended up falling to the ground and suffered serious injuries. After receiving care, he was taken to the hospital and remained in an intensive care unit (ICU).

Despite medical care, the boy did not resist the injuries.

School suspends classes and offers welcome

On Monday (5), the State Secretariat for Education of Paraná (Seed-PR) exempted students from regular activities at the school.

In place of the disciplinary classes, the institution provided reception and psychosocial support to the school community, in the face of the repercussions of the student's death.

In a note, Seed-PR regretted the death and reported that it follows the case.

The Secretariat stated that it provides support to family, friends and the school community, in addition to expressing condolences to the people close to the student.

Luigi was also an athlete in Castro

In addition to being a student, Luigi Gabriel also participated in sports activities promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Sports of Castro.

After the confirmation of the death, the folder published a note of regret on social networks and highlighted the trajectory of the young athlete.

At the demonstration, the Secretariat said it received the news with deep sadness and expressed solidarity with the family, friends, companions and other people who lived with Luigi.

The publication also stressed that the trajectory and the smile of the boy will remain in the memory of those who had contact with him.

Police investigate the case

The circumstances of the crash are being investigated by the Civil Police. Initially, the episode is treated as an accident.

The play, according to the information available, involved a child sitting while two other students held their arms, one on each side, to lift it. During the action, Luigi lost his balance and fell to the ground.

The investigation should clarify in detail the dynamics of what happened.

The boy was buried on Monday (5), in the Cemetery of Frei Mathias, in Castro.
