The main highlight of the day are the midterm elections in the Estados Unidos, the midterms. The vote will renew nearly the entire U.S. Congress and is seen as crucial to President Donald Trump, as it can define how much space the government will have to pass measures on public spending, taxes and regulation.
In addition to the midterms, the market also follows the disclosure of new data from the American labor market and the expectation for the decision of the interest rate in Brazil.
On Friday (30), the Brazilian financial market closed October under strong pressure, with the dollar skyrocketing and the stock market falling sharply. On Friday (30), the US currency rose about 1% and closed near R$ 5.45, while the Ibovespa fell 0.75%, to 167.9 thousand points.
In the week, the dollar accumulated valuation above 9%, the highest since the financial crisis of 2008. The main B3 index recorded the worst weekly drop since March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the national level, the performance of assets was marked by market adjustments after the re-election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, by uncertainties about Brazilian fiscal policy. On the international scene, the sharp fall in shares of technology and artificial intelligence companies has put pressure on the dollar and the stock exchanges of other countries.
