Driver allegedly simulated his own kidnapping to demand R$ 2,000 from his partner in PG

A case initially treated as a possible kidnapping of an app driver in Ponta Grossa took a new direction and went on to be investigated on suspicion that the man himself had simulated the situation to ask for money from the companion.

The incident mobilized military police teams after the woman received messages early in the morning, informing that he would be in the hands of criminals.

Investigation of the Civil Police

According to the information obtained, the authors of the messages sent a photo of the driver in a forest region and demanded the payment of R$ 2,000 for the alleged release.

In response to the complaint, the Military Police inserted the vehicle into an alert system and activated intelligence and support teams to locate the victim and identify those involved.

The case unfolded after the driver, a resident of Jardim Carvalho, was approached by police in the Santa Luzia region. The car he used, a grey Renault Logan, was also located during the incident.

Police point to possible extortion

With the approach and the elements gathered during the care, the initial line of a possible kidnapping began to divide space with the suspicion of extortion. The main hypothesis is that the driver may have forged his own situation to try to get the money from the companion.

The exact circumstances of the case, however, still depend on the conclusion of the investigation and the official analysis of the police authorities. The Civil Police must ascertain if there was, in fact, a simulation of the occurrence and what will be the criminal framework of the case.

Aspiring officer Edson de Abreu Junior, of the 1st Military Police Battalion (1st BPM), gave a press conference in the 13th Police Subdivision (13th SDP) to detail the occurrence and the first referrals adopted by the security forces.
