Driver is arrested after driving under influence and nearly hitting a police car in PG

A 27-year-old driver was arrested for drunken driving on Ponta Grossa after performing dangerous maneuvers and nearly hitting a Patrulhamento Viário team car in the central region of the city. The incident was recorded at around 4:27 a.m. on Sunday (20), at the intersection of Riachuelo and Prefeito Brasílio Ribas streets. The breathalyzer test showed 0.76 milligrams of alcohol per liter of alveolar air.

According to the report of the Traffic and Road Safety team, the officers were patrolling the Prefeito Brasílio Ribas Street when they came across a GM/Astra HB vehicle, driven by a man identified by the initials F.F.S., 27 years old.

The car was traveling at high speed on the Rua Riachuelo and, according to officers, the driver was performing dangerous maneuvers, including slipping and kicking off with the tires singing.

As he approached the junction, the driver failed to respect the mandatory vertical stop signage and nearly hit the front side of the vehicle that was transiting through Prefeito Brasílio Ribas Street.

Driver showed signs of drunkenness

In the face of the situation, the agents of Patrulhamento Viário gave the driver a stop order and carried out the approach.

During the conversation, the team identified several signs of possible drunkenness, such as ethyl breath, difficulty walking, red eyes, and confused speech.

According to the report, the driver showed ironic behavior during the approach and initially denied having ingested alcoholic beverages before taking over the steering of the vehicle.

The agents asked him to perform the ethylometer test, popularly known as a breathalyzer.

The equipment pointed to the result of 0.76 milligrams of alcohol per liter of alveolar air.

After the result, the driver admitted to the agents that he had consumed whiskey with energy while driving.

The driver was arrested and taken to the police station.

In the face of the facts, the man received a voice of arrest for drunkenness at the wheel in Ponta Grossa and was referred to the police station for legal proceedings.

According to the report of the occurrence, infraction documents were drawn up on the basis of articles 165 and 175 of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), related, respectively, to the driving of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and the use of the automobile to demonstrate or display dangerous maneuver.

At the police station, bail was arbitrated in the amount of R$ 3,000. As the payment was not made, the driver was referred to the prison system, where he should await the custody hearing.

The GM/Astra vehicle was also seized by the authorities.
